  • My character feels like the cliche Mary Sue, so I was surprised she only got 18%.

Her name is Jaci (pronounced like Jackie). She's fourteen years old, lives with her parents, and owns two dogs, Goldie and Cocoa. (They're named after their coat colors) Her hair is a light brown and her eyes are emerald green, so she''s not that far of in the appearance department other that unusually bright eyes.

Her grandmother was a jeweler who loved to collect crystal figurines. One day when Jaci was visiting he grandmother, a brutal car accident occurred. Her grandmother sadly passed away in it. Jaci fell into a depression. She had loved her grandmother so much, and she felt like it was her fault because she was the one who suggested they drive to the ice cream parlor instead of walking. Jaci's family inherited her grandmother's collection of crystal figurines. Most of them are kept in a large wooden cabinet that is locked at all times. However, Jaci keeps one of them in her room. It's a beautiful red figurine of a cardinal. She loves this one specially because she helped pick out this one with her grandmother at the shop (I threw a little symbolism in there; cardinals are symbolic of a deceased loved one being near).

One day, a relative shows up at her house looking to take one of the figurines. She is known among Jaci's family for being a severe alcoholic who will sell anything to buy more booze. While trying to shove Jaci out of the way, she accidentally knocks over her cardinal figurine. It hts the ground and shatters. Jaci is furious. This is where she learns she has the power to turn things into crystals/precious gem.

At first, she is worried everyone will despise her for her power. She runs away and meets a strange creature in the forest, which she quickly befriends.

I'm still working out some plot holes, pacing issues, and such with my friends, but what do you think? Any ideas/suggestions for me o add? :D

  • Oh! Almost forgot! Victoria L. is not part of the Student Council, but shes on their good side (shes on all antagonist good actually). Shes a Lady of Few Words, a bit impatient, and is a mortal despite being quite strong ( the antagonists doesnt usually think about killing her mainly because shes unimportant . If she do get targeted, she could handle the situation herself sometimes or get help which is almost always around).

  • My character got 25%, her name is Victoria L. (Im still working on her full last name), shes 11-12 years old, and is from a high class family. She is sometime known as Tsarenity or Victoria III because she took after the first two (and one partially related) Victorias of her family. She is genuinely seen as cute and innocent and acts like that, but not many are aware of her twisted side; shes a bit emotionless, cold, verbally offensive, murderous (to the antagonists), and doesnt forgive her enemies easily. Victoria is very mature, she seen and knows more than most people around her. She sees the world as a death or life game after knowing the truth about life, thus she (secretly) lack trust in even her love ones.Shes athletic, caring, kind, have As in school (shes not the smartest character, there are +10 smarter ones), and is determine to keep her family together. Sometimes she feels as if shes not good/perfect enough compared to that of her family. She have long black hair in a ponytail, pale skin blushed with pink, and brown eyes with a prismatic glint (her family have genetic mutation), and is an average height (55-56). Im still working on her past, but overall, her past isnt the the darkest and/or the most tragic, but it involves emotional damages, some violence, a bit of death ( not all will be brutal), and (possibly) reincarnation. By the way her rich family isnt perfect, all members are diverse, there is fighting and bickering (imagine the Olympian god and goddesses but less dramatic), plus long history that involves conflicts and splitting up so many times that they may as well receive a world record (its vital and necessary). My character is also impatient and doesnt want to fall in love for personal reasons. Trivially butterflies are her main motif and shes once a loner and have a scar. So, is she a Mary Sue? I dont mind her being hated though.

  • Did it with another character (in an original story). 21%... I need to spice her up a bit I think. Her name is Kanna Nightingale, and she was born and raised by her poor parents in criminal territory, which is why shes so good at fighting and in shape. Shes also born with one red and and one blue eye, which is considered dangerous where she lives, so she has to wear an eyepatch. When she is 13, a rapist tries something with her 7 year old sister, and he ends up seeing her eye, and stabbing it when shes trying to protect her sister. It turns out the rapist was actually a really powerful businessman, and he frames her parents for child abuse. He bribes the judge, and manages to sentence them to life in prison. Kanna, who is now missing an eye, blames herself and her parents for what happened (long story about the parents part) and hides her injury (shes now missing her red eye) from her brother and sister, and barely interacts with them for 4 years. She also becomes an illegal fighter, because she wants to save up enough money in order to get out of the town. Im still trying to write this story, but Im failing miserably...

  • 33%. Could be worse, for a fan character. Her past Kabul super weird, she was injected with a drug at a young age that was designed to give superpowers, but the whole thing backfired and the world ended. She did end up weird superpowers, but she had no idea how to use them, since she was 8. She ends up with a disease that I made up, which basically causes her to not grow (shes 45), not sleeping, see into her worst memories from the third person, and be able to burn people unintentionally. Though most of the characters would see it as a blessing, she sees it as a curse, because she has to relive the worst moments of her life in the few times she DOES sleep and even while shes awake sometimes. Shes selfish, scary, a bit cruel, and fails to recognize when its okay to be scared or concerned. Shes not great at reading situations, and also lacks empathy and is claustrophobic... So yeah, AOT fanfics be like-

  • I got a 23 percent, but at the same time some of the questions were a bit hard to answer for my character Loverian. Not because I dont know her traits or anything but because of her past being a bit complicated. I know that most people dont believe this about there OC but I kinda believe them for being really old due to the fact that they had to live through many lives. Like when you put your character in animes and TV shows its like your character lived that life for the soul purpose of making sure everything is ok, then leaving it by naturally dying (or insane death, which ever you prefer lol). Once they die there, they come back to there old one to spend time with family and friends for a life while staying the age they choose. I do believe that they can get up to millions of years old before they kick the bucket and that only a few types of metal can kill them and give them scars. Just a funny theory I like sticking too

  • I chose my character Apollyon, who I am working super hard on his backstory.. whoops. At least he's 73% not a Gary Sue, so I still passed :

(I believe the reasons he might be considered a Gary Sue is his mismatched purple and black eyes, the fact that he's 'immortal' to an extent, and that he is a king)

  • 31% Studying film through experience and many YouTube video essays, I knew my character was a Mary Sue but has since been improved and I wanted to see how much he's changed since I wrote him in 2014. I actually want to take it again as him from when I started but as today's Uclain, it was hard to answer quite a few of the questions because of the context of the story. For instance, Yami can't reconcile with his past because he (purposefully) destroyed the town he came from. Or the question about him dying for others and then coming back to life. I wasn't sure if reincarnating into a completely different generation or dimension counted considering that the different lives he lives is what the series is about. Another weird one was the age because when I made him he was older than me but I'm currently the age I wrote him to be. Speaking of age, they wanted to know if he looked his age if he was 40+ but he's 21 and there was no "is younger" option. So it was like saying he's 40 but looks in his early 20s lol

    • So amazingly, past Yami has a lower score by 10% and I don't know how lol. Past Yami has more friends, more powers and never struggles. His flaws are even "just made up" to hide his true lovely, beautiful and perfect self as opposed to now where he has to grow from being cold and bitter into the loving hero his allies and even his enemies respects. Oh well. Still a fun quiz to take. Gonna try my self insert character, Amioki Shinizou. Probably going to see a bigger score this time.

    • Only a little bit higher than Yami, the character who is literally me as a god. Maybe it's because me as a god is actually mean and known as a god of chaos. So lastly, I'm trying a Soul Eater fan character from long ago named Megan, Death the Kid's girlfriend. If you couldn't tell, I'm basically searching for a high school non ironically. Wish me luck!

I thought it would be higher since I answered yes for the singing and prophecy questions, but I'm not complaining .

My OC is miss Roxanne DeLuise, a witty southern belle with dreams of being a rockstar.

Her destiny is to destroy a contract between a demon and a psychotic woman, with the help of her band and an old flame, in order to save rock and roll.

  • 18%

I have to say, I expected a bit more due to my character having a decent past. But 18% is a bit surprising if I must say.

The quiz is fairly well, though the is your character 40+, and looks their age question is kind of a defect, as theyre 20 but however look their age.

All in all this is a great quiz, would recommend for anyone writing a series, getting into role-play, or just making an OC in general.

  • My character got 10%. Had it been 10 years ago when I first created her, her Mary Sue level probably would have been a lot higher. Her name is Arisa Riddle, she's a character from an original story I'm still working on. It's based on Alice in Wonderland, but an alternative take on it. She's a 16 year old girl, with decently nice looks, well-mannered, has a sharp mind, but is also rather submissive and has some anxiety problems. However, I wanted to make Arisa as realistic as possible so she can feel relatable to other girls her age. Especially nerdy girls or the ones with social issues.

Although she has a rather sad past, it's a key plot point to help shape her into the person she grows to be. She had a rocky relationship with her strict parents since she was a child. They were both successful doctors with busy careers, so they often neglected their own daughter and only showed interest in her grades (and be harsh to her when she didn't exceed their expectation). When she was about 7, her parents were planning on divorcing and were fighting on who would take in Arisa. On the same night, all 3 of them got into a car accident and only Arisa survived. Eventually her much more loving uncle and aunt adopted her, but she still blamed herself for not being the perfect daughter her parent's wanted her to be. So she locks away the things about her she deemed "flawed" and dedicated the rest of her childhood being a model student/daughter, in order to not to be unwanted by her new caretakers.

Years later, at 16 years old, Arisa and her guardians are moving to a new area when their car suddenly breaks down in the middle of the road. She notices a strange red cat in the area and chases after it into the woods when it steals an important item from her. There she runs into a strangely dressed young man, with white skin and hair, as well as red eyes (and a pair of rabbit ears and a tail). He literally drags her into a cave where they are teleported to a world called "Wonderland".

    • Okay, this is seriously very original. Like, a Wonderland AU? I wonder what the rabbit man's motives are for dragging her into Wonderland. If you turned this story into a book or comic or whatsoever, I'm making sure I read it. (if I sound sarcastic, I'm so sorry because it's my usual speaking tone

She's such an amazing character, and I personally agree with Orange WW's comment, I'd definitely check out your series if you made one!

  • My non-fan-character Zuri got a 15%, likely due to how she hasn't been given many traits that fit into here.

She has deep blue hair and reptilian eyes, but those are normal for her species. She has massive physical strength (punch through buildings kinda strength), but there didn't seem to be anything to talk about that. Of course, to balance that out, the final villain she has to fight is crazy strong too.

She is a half dragon, something incredibly rare in this universe (only other one atm is her twin brother), but all that does is make her much faster to learn things.

Do you guys think she's a sue?

  • I put in answers for my current main man Chrys. He ended up getting a lot lower than I thought. Though I guess this quiz doesn't account for mad scientist type characters. That and humans in the world he's from tend to be the blandest of the bunch. Only reason Chrys is as important as he is to the story is because of a prophecy he thinks is made up so his boss has a reason to hate him. He doesn't even want to fulfill it. He just wants to get paid, go home, and spend time with his husband and sons.

  • I put in one of my most overpowered characters, named Ana, that I honestly thought would be WAY more sue than 32%, which is what I got.

Shes a white furred canine with pink eyes and her own mini dimension that shes basically the god of. She also hops universes a lot, and knows a lot more than she should. She also breaks the fourth wall a bit. Sounds like a total sue, right?

I asked a ton of friends for weaknesses, and together, we came up with some pretty good ones. The character is (in my opinion) rather fairly balanced now. There are certain areas where she cant use her abilities, she cant affect herself in her own dimension (ex. No self-healing), and she cant hip dimensions at a whim, its mostly random. Shes also extremely overconfident and believes herself to always be the smartest one in the room, even if this isnt true. Her dimension is also only about the size of an average house. It gets smaller if she becomes injured.

I think the unexplained phobia of snails is a good de-suefier too lol

Even if she still sounds like a sue, Id have to type a lot more to explain how her abilities work and all that, and I dont think any of you want to read an essay about an OC you dont know much about, so Ill just leave this here, I guess.

Tips and thoughts would be appreciated! My discord is Ackubota#5127 if youd like to talk about characters, art, or anything else, or if youd like a better explanation of this character!

    • This really helped me out because this character is a creepypasta oc and she is with ticci toby but they don't imediatlly love each other at first it's one sided then it's both of them. I heard from a lot of people that I should take this quiz to test my character. and I only got 31% mary sue which isn't that bad but could be better so I will make a couple of changes. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

  • I took the quiz for my OC Acacia. She was stolen at the age of 2 and taken into a royal family (stay with me here). She has an incredible memory and remebers bits of her past through nightmares. She doesn't like to talk because she has a raspy voice. Anyway, Acacia doesn't look too out there. She has long, black hair and dark blue eyes. I'm surprised she only got 24% because I thought she would get more from the "kidnapped and taken into royalty" bit.
