The next day, Chester and Jayden were getting ready. Chester was tying his tie in the mirror. ‘How are you feeling?’ he asked, looking at Jayden through the mirror. -
Jayden was wearing a green tuxedo. If he was going to be miserable at his own birthday party, he would at least make sure he looked nice. “I’m ready to get this over with.”

Chester chuckled weakly, pulling on his blazer. He pinned a flower brooch to it. ‘That’s fair. We could try to enjoy it, if Astrid hasn’t got anything planned.’ He walked over to Jayden and wrapped his arms around him.

Jayden held him close. “I love you.” -
(BAHA)
Chester smiled softly and hugged him tightly, playing with his hair. ‘I love you too, darling. C’mon. Let’s go dance and have a few drinks. If it’s extra horrible we’ll get drunk and make out in the corner,’ he said jokingly, trying to make him feel better. -

Jayden leaned into him. “Sounds great.” He smiled. -

Chester kissed his forehead and let go of him to grab his hand. -

Chester walked next to him and down the hall, to the ballroom. -

Jayden walked with him, shuffling closer as more people walked around the halls. -
Chester wrapped an arm around him, glancing around. They got to the ballroom. It was covered in green and gold decorations, and people milled around. The thrones were stood on a platform at the back of the room, and food tables were around the border. Chester glanced around. ‘Wow.’

Jayden looked at the green and gold. “Huh. They actually cared enough to put up some pretty decorations. I didn’t think they would.”

‘You deserve much more than this, but it’s an okay effort,’ Chester said, pulling him closer.

Jayden looked around. “Better than most years.” He shrugged, looking up at Chester with a grin. “Thanks for being here.”
