Chester stared at Astrid. Astrid’s face contorted into an inhuman grin and he swung the pole in their direction, letting out an echoing laugh. Chester blinked and he was gone. He laughed humourlessly, his voice was more frightened than happy. ‘Sorry, I thought I saw something. Go back inside, I just need a moment.’

“I’m not leaving you.” Jayden said firmly. “Please tell me what’s wrong.” -
(I wanna eat it)
‘I just feel a bit sick, that’s all. Probably just food poisoning,’ Chester said, playing with his hands. -
(I want to eat the cake Jayden had)
Jayden sat down on the floor, pulling chester down as well. “I’m sorry you’re sick.” -
(Me too man)
Chester nestled up to him. He rested his head on Jayden’s shoulder, closing his eyes. ‘I’ll be fine, promise.’ -
“I know.” Jayden held him close. “I’ll stay here with you until you are.”

‘You don’t need to. You should go back with Jordan and enjoy your birthday, love,’ Chester said quietly, burying his face in his shoulder.

“Im enjoying my birthday.” Jayden pulled him closer.

‘Having to comfort me isn’t enjoyable,’ Chester mumbled.

“Being around you is.” Jayden kissed the top of his head.

Chester looked up at him. Jayden’s expression seemed to shift into a scowl, then his actual expression. For a moment it looked like blood was splashed on his face, until Chester touched his cheek, and it disappeared. ‘I love you.’

“I love you too.” Jayden smiled, leaning into his touch.

Chester gave a small smile. The pounding in his head seemed to stop. ‘I’m feeling better.’

Jayden smiled wider. “That’s good. We don’t have to go back fast though, no rush.”

Chester snuggled up to him, half laid on the ground with his head resting on Jayden’s chest.
