Chester smiled, kissing the side of his head. ‘Thank you for being my boyfriend.’ They walked further inside, and one of Jayden’s childhood friends spotted them.

Jayden grinned, following him. He noticed his friend. “Jordan!” He grinned, dragging Chester to her. “Chester, this is Jordan, she’s my best friend.” He was beaming. He hadn’t seen her in FOREVER. “How are you?”

Chester let himself be dragged, smiling a little at his excitement. Jordan was the same height as Jayden, had sunkissed skin and blonde ringlets. ‘Jay!’ she hugged him and eyed Chester for a moment, grabbing Jayden’s hand and pulling it off Chester’s. ‘I’m good, you? It’s been so long, oh my god!’

“It’s been too long!” Jayden agreed, head bobbing up and down as he nodded excitedly. “I’m alright. What’ve you been up to?”

‘I moved out and got a nice house by the town square, you should come by! I need a roommate, it’s too spacious,’ Jordan laughed, holding his hands. ‘What about you?’

“You think your house is too spacious?” Jayden chuckled. “I’d love to visit!” He didn’t say what was new with him, since he figured every other person in the kingdom had a pretty good idea.

‘Pfft, you have servants to fill up yours,’ Jordan giggled. ‘Maybe next week! The party is nice, I can’t believe Astrid took the time to organise it.’ She linked arms with Jayden and walked to the food tables. Chester followed behind sheepishly. ‘Maybe he’s finally changing,’ Jordan said, offering a small cake to Jayden.

Jayden grinned, following her after looking to make sure Chester was following. “Doubtful. He’s still a douche.” He took the cake. “Thanks.”

‘Eh. We’ll see,’ Jordan said with a grin, grabbing a cake for herself and taking a bite out of half. ‘How’s it been in the North Kingdom? You’ve spent so much time there, it has to be nice!’

“It’s nice.” Jayden gave a small nod. “I lucked out with an awesome tour guide.” He motioned to Chester with a loving smile on his face.

Chester gave a smile and kissed the back of his head. Jordan watched them for a moment. ‘Jayjay, as your best friend, are you sure he hasn’t cheated, like a lot-‘

Jayden nodded. “More like been assaulted. I don’t blame him for the stuff with Beatrice.”

‘Sexual assault,’ Chester nodded, playing with Jayden’s hair. He’d mostly forgiven himself for the things that had happened with Beatrice by now.
Jordan nodded slowly. ‘Okay, then. Well, a toast to Jayden!’ She grabbed a glass of champagne for her and Jayden from a butler, then grabbed a glass of red wine from the table and handed it to Chester. ‘I heard you preferred this.’
‘Ah. Thank you,’ Chester said, a little confused as to how she knew, but didn’t think much of it. -
Jayden leaned into Chester, taking the champagne. He clinked it with Jordan’s, drinking it after.

Chester took a sip of his red wine and immediately felt a little strange. He pushed the feeling away and kissed Jayden’s cheek, figuring it was just the fact he hadn’t had alcohol in a while. ‘Happy birthday, darling,’
