  1. "And where exactly am I?" I asked, backing myself into a corner so that I could make sure he wasn't going to decapitate me with his sword or something. He saw this and laughed. "Don't worry, I won't hurt you. If anything I was protecting you last night. I'm Jareth by the way."
  2. "I'm Sage," I said, throwing back the huge blanket. I'm not sure how, but apparently I changed into some pajamas. I was wearing a huge white t-shirt and some black basketball shorts. "I know. I did watch you for some time. At least for your protection anyways," Jareth said, putting down the empty bowl.
  3. "Watching me? What are you stalking something or me? And what do I need protection for?" I asked, noticed the blanket and the pillow that was laying beside the bed I was laying on. "This may sound cliché, but that guy that you saw in the alley, he really wants to hurt you," he said, sitting down on the bed beside me.
  4. Suddenly, this other guy walked in the room. He had brown-cropped hair and was wearing jeans and a Van Halen t-shirt. "Holy crap, you're alive! I thought you were in a coma or something," the guy said, rushing over to hug me. I don't exactly remember meeting this guy, but h seemed friendly enough.
  5. remember meeting this guy, but h seemed friendly enough. "Um, Ethan, you might want to give her some air, she's still a bit confused and such," Jareth said, standing up and getting out of the way. There was something about him that kind of crept me out, but yet made me feel secure. Maybe it was the fact that he could like chop someone up with a sword or something. "Oh right," Ethan said, letting go of me. "Where am I anyways?" I asked, trying to fix my hair a little bit. "You're at our house," Ethan replied, giving me some of my clothes. Where they got them I have no idea. They probably snuck into my house or something. "So what are you guys? Ninjas or something?" Jareth snorted. "Why do we always get that? We aren't ninjas. But we do protect the Gifted." What in the hell was that supposed to mean? Please don't tell this is going to end up being some kind of weird society or something. "What do you mean, you protect the Gifted? What the hell is the Gifted?"
  6. Jareth smiled and I thought my heart stopped. Don't get me wrong, he might be a tad obnoxious, but he was still really cute. "Why don't you get dressed and go downstairs and we'll explain it to you after breakfast?" I sighed. "Whatever," I said, getting up to go change. I realized that I didn't know where the bathroom was as soon as I exited the room. "Come on, I'll show you where it is," Jareth said, leading her down a twist of halls. "This place is ridiculously huge," I said as I was awed by the paintings that were hung on the walls of the hallways. "Not really. When you share it with six other people it tends to get a bit small sometimes," Jareth replied. "Six people? What is this a Frat House?"
  7. "It would be seven people now that you're here. But don't worry, we have plenty of room. I guess you could call it a Frat House though," he said laughing as he pointed towards the girls' bathroom. "One more question for the time being," I said, turning towards Jareth. "And what would that be?" he asked, leaning up against the facing of the door. Good lord he looked kind of cute when he did that. "Who all lives here?" "Well," he started. "There's me, Ethan whom you met already, Tanya, Billy, Adrian, Katie, and Tommy." "Oh," I said. "You seem a bit disappointed."
  8. "No, I just thought that there...never mind. I'll see you downstairs," I said, and I pattered into the bathroom and shut the door behind me. This was so much to take in. I wonder if my parents know where I am. They probably never noticed that I was ever gone. I stepped inside the hot shower and thought things through. I don't even know if I want to be in any of this. They're talking about "Gifts" and all kinds of crazy crap about protecting me? The last thing I need is somebody following me around like I'm a little kid or something. Its bad enough they have been doing it behind my back. I just want to find out who the hell was trying to kill me. Because it obviously wasn't them. I got out of the shower, got dressed and stood at the doorway. I didn't feel like getting lost, so I just sat down. I was on the floor for a total of maybe five minutes before a girl came down the hall. She was kind of short, had fair skin, and she seemed like she was an all right person. Until she started talking. Have you ever heard or seen those preppy girls that have that annoying voice that sounds like their nose is congested? This is what she sounded like.
  9. "Hi! I'm Katie. You must be Sage. Come with me. Since you don't know your way around yet, Jareth told me to come and fetch you." "How nice of him," I said, getting off the ground, a hint of annoyance in my voice. I followed her down another twist of halls in complete awkward silence. But silence was better than hearing her infuriating voice. I think she was doing it on purpose, but that was just a thought I had. We finally reached the kitchen. There was a nerdy-looking redhead kid was fighting over some sausage with Ethan. I nearly laughed at that. Katie walked right over to some kid who looked like he was a jockey guy and sat in his lap and started kissing him. "Ew, you guys. How can you even kiss this early in the morning?" a girl dressed in a red sundress, whom I'm assuming was Tanya since I had already met the other only girl in the house.

  11. other only girl in the house. There was also a kid dressed in all black with really long black hair sitting in the corner, watching everything, and being Mr. Mysterious. Jareth, who was sitting on the counter, smiled when I walked in behind the make-out session. "Hey," he said, taking a hold of my hand and leading me to the table. There was an empty spot there, with a Monster Energy Drink can and a blueberry bagel was sitting on a plate, waiting for me. "I made your favorite," he said, leaning against the table. "And how did you know what my favorite was?" I asked, sitting in the chair beside where he was leaning. "Hello? We've been watching you," Tanya said, biting into an omelet. I looked over at Jareth. "I thought you said you were protecting me." "We were doing both," said the nerdy kid. "I'm Billy," the nerd said, smiling.
  12. Adrian halfway smiled and went back to playing on his iPod Touch. There was something about him that kind of made me want to smack someone. I'm not sure why, but he just did. He had the same look as Jareth, you know, the borderline Goth/emo look, except his hair was brown and it was short with a patch of hair hanging over one eye. I noticed when I was slowly and groggily coming to life that every once in a while, he would look up from his iPod and stare at me. Just staring. But I decided to ignore it for now.
  13. When I was done munching on my bagel, I sighed. "Alright, I need you to tell me exactly why you have decided to kidnap me against my will, hold me hostage, and say nothing to why you are doing this," I said, sitting on the counter next to Jareth. So far, he seemed like the nicest guy, and at the moment, the only one that I could maybe trust in the whole room. "Nobody here is holding a freaking gun to your head," Tanya snorted. For some reason, I have a feeling that she and I are going to butt heads a few times. "You know what? Why don't you go kiss my-" I started saying, hopping off the counter. Jareth sensed that there was going to be violence and pulled me back by my waist.
  14. "Hey. How about we all just shut up so we can explain this to her?" Billy said, trying to be helpful. "Shut up Billy!" everyone around me said in unison, including the anti-social Adrian. Even Jareth joined in. "Sage, what we're trying to say is that you play a very important role in the preservation of the world of Magick," Adrian said, coming out of his little emo-shell. At first I thought that I had heard him wrong. But then I have passed all my hearing tests since I was like, six. So technically, I heard him right. I looked over at Jareth. He looked as if he were expecting some crazy reaction. Well he got what he was expecting. "What in the hell are you people talking about?? Magick? As in like telekinesis and shiz like that??" I was shouting. I was getting different reactions from everyone in the room. Katie looked as if she was weary. Tommy looked like he was going to laugh at me. Jareth looked like he was going to hit something. Tanya looked annoyed. Billy looked like he was just as weary as Katie was. Adrian looked as if he was satisfied with himself.
  15. "Damn it Adrian," Jareth said, punching the countertop. "What?" Adrian replied. "Was I supposed to lie to her? She would've gotten it out of one of us eventually." "Yeah, even so. You didn't have to just dump it all on her like that." "Better that she take it all into perspective before he ever gets to her." "Oh that's really nice to say there Ad. Really nice." By now, the two of them were in each other's face and the testosterone level in the room had grown a bit too high for my liking, even if they were fighting over me. Don't get me wrong, it's flattering, but when you have to choose a side, its not really simple when both of them are oober hot.
  16. I decided right then that it was about time to step in and try to clear the situation. I stepped in-between the both of them and put one hand on both of their chests...that were quite muscular by the way. "Both of you stop it. I just got here. You just explained things to me, and now you're fighting. This isn't going to work," I said, softly shoving the both of them in different directions. Jareth looked like he might go crazy. Adrian was gazing at me, with this really weird expression that I couldn't quite comprehend. I looked over at Jareth, whose chest was heaving. "I can deal with this. You are not my father. I see how you're trying to help me, but I'm not a little kid." This got his attention. He was looking at me now, less violent look in his eyes. He walked out of the kitchen, almost seething with anger now. Just then, the toaster caught on fire. Billy seemed to be waiting for it and put it out with an extinguisher. The whole kitchen was extremely silent now. It didn't occur to me that I still had my hand on Adrian's chest until you felt his eyes watching me.
  17. I turned my head to look his way and I realized that his eyes were glowing. This wasn't the regular glow that people get when they're happy, or mad, this was like alien glow. And they were changing colors quickly. I had the sudden urge to...I have no clue why, but I really felt like I wanted to kiss Adrian. I ducked my head, trying to resist the weird feeling. Then it went just as soon as it came. I looked back up at Adrian and his eyes were gray now.
