Hogwarts Part 26

Will you get the Hogwarts guy of your dreams? Find out in this quiz. Starting in your third year, you will get the opportunity to become friends and more with Neville Longbottom, Draco Malfoy, Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, George Weasley, and Oliver Wood.

*Recap* Last time you spent a rather interesting Christmas at Grimmauld Place. A knife almost impaled you, Ron kissed you under the mistletoe, and to top it all off, you heard Oliver say he loved you while eavesdropping. You fled after that and discovered the Black family tree...and your family was on it.

  1. Well first off, I'd like to apologize for the long wait. I've had so many things going on I've only been able to write about a sentence at a time. However, school just got out for me and I've finished with orchestra and getting my license and everything else, so updates should be coming much faster. :) On a more serious note, I thought repeatedly about quitting this series altogether while I was on hiatus. I probably would have, but I hate leaving things unfinished, so I'm in it until the end. So, what I'm trying to say is you're stuck with me. :P
  2. "Where were you?" Hermione demanded as soon as I returned to our room, rather exhausted from the events of the night. She, Arianna, and Ginny had all jumped to their feet as soon as I entered. "You've been gone for almost an hour," Arianna pointed out. "It's a long story," I stated simply, and then collapsed onto my bed in a heap. They all looked at me expectantly. "Well, tell us!" Ginny said insistently. "I'm sorry, but I really don't want to talk about it right now. Maybe later." In fact, I had no intention of telling them much at all. They still didn't know about my mother being a Death Eater, and I really didn't want to share it openly. For all I knew, they might think I was just as treacherous as her. As far as Oliver went, well...that wasn't anything they needed to know. Normally they would have continued pestering me, but they seemed to understand that I was in no mood to share.
  3. "So, I'm pretty sure my brother's completely in love with you now," Ginny remarked casually. "Great. Just great," I said in a monotone voice, covering my face with a pillow as if it would make everything better. She pulled it off heartlessly. "I don't understand how you do it. You could make practically any guy at Hogwarts melt at your feet and you don't even notice it," she said, throwing her hands up in exasperation. "It's not like I asked for it," I said dully, throwing a frustrated glance at her. She just rolled her eyes. "Anyway, I think you should talk to Ron. I really don't want to deal with him fawning over you for another year," she said exaggeratedly. "I'll think about it," I allowed.
  4. "Speaking of people fawning over you, I noticed Draco gave you something before we left King's Cross Station," Arianna chimed in. I glared at her, self-consciously pulling my sweater sleeve over the snake ring. Hermione and Ginny both had betrayed looks on their faces. "How did you know that?" I asked suspiciously. "I was just observing," she said with a mischievous grin. I whacked her with a pillow. "Eavesdropping, were you?" I said, not really very irritated at that point. She was a hard person to hold a grudge against. "Malfoy? Draco Malfoy gave you something?" Hermione asked in apparent disbelief. "I really don't see how that's any of your business," I said defensively. "I still think you like him," Arianna teased. A barrage of questions ensued. "What did he give you?" "Are you dating him?" "Is he plotting with Umbridge?" "Seriously, are you dating him?" I sat up and my arms around madly to get them to stop. "Okay, just listen for a minute. I am NOT dating Draco. As far as I know, he's not plotting anything...yet. And all he gave me was a ring. See?" I said, showing them the small silver band around my finger. "He gave you a ring? Someone's getting serious," Hermione said, her voice heavily coated with disapproval. "I swear if you fall in love with that git..." Ginny left the threat hanging ominously. "I don't think he's that bad," Arianna finally said, as if deciding Draco was getting enough abuse. We all turned to stare at her. An awkward silence filled the room. "Well, I think we've talked enough for tonight," I said abruptly, turning out the lights. "Hey, I wasn't finished-" Ginny protested. "Good night," I cut her off. Nevertheless, I knew the conversation wasn't over.
  5. "Cassandra." I groaned softly and snuggled further into bed. "Cassandra." I tried to open my eyes, but my need to sleep was too powerful. "I'll be there in a minute," I mumbled unintelligibly, and then tried to roll over. The hard surface of the wood floor met my face a second later. A sharp pain erupted in my nose and I sat up painfully. Harry was at the doorway, looking faintly amused, but mostly preoccupied. I rubbed my nose and got to my feet. "Okay, I'm up," I said with a grimace. From the light streaming in through the windows, I figured it was already well into the afternoon. "You missed breakfast. Mrs. Weasley wants you downstairs," he informed me a bit curtly. I nodded and followed him out the door. "Wait up, Harry. I haven't talked to you much lately," I said, quickening my stride. Something about the way Harry was acting didn't sit right with me. It just wasn't...Harry. He still didn't offer any sort of acknowledgment as I fell into step beside him. "What's up with you?" I asked jokingly, but a touch of concern entered my voice. "I'm fine," was his short response. I took his hand, forcing him to turn around. "Come on, Harry. I can tell something's bothering you," I said. I didn't really feel like skirting around the issue like usual; I was just too tired to deal with it. "Yeah? Well, why don't you go tell Ron about it?" he said irritably. "Huh?" I asked blankly, and then came to a realization. "Oh, you mean the...the, uh..." I gestured vaguely at the ceiling, and blushed at the memory. He didn't say anything, but I knew that's what he was referring to. "You know it wasn't like that, though. Ron's a good friend and everything, but-" I started, but he just snorted derisively. "But you don't think of him like that. That's what you think of everyone. Including me," he said quietly. "Well, I just...I-" I floundered for words, and then fell silent. He was absolutely right, at least about how I acted around him. "I'm sorry, Harry, I really am," seeing his dark expression. He just walked away like the matter was settled.
  6. "He's not himself, you know," Hermione's voice piped up behind me. I turned around. "I know. But why?" "He probably doesn't want you to know, but he's having a sort of mental battle with Voldemort, and he can't control it. That's why he's so angry all the time," she said, looking a bit guilty she had told me without Harry's permission. I looked back at Harry as he disappeared down to the kitchen. "But why didn't he tell me then?" I asked, a bit hurt that he hadn't trusted me with the information. "Well, you know Harry. He doesn't want you to pity him," she said uncomfortably. I was still a bit disappointed that Harry didn't tell me anything, but looking through Harry's eyes, it was starting to make more sense. But that didn't make the situation any easier.
  7. Within the next few days, I was stepping back on the Hogwarts Express with the others. I caught George's arm as we were walking. "I'm going to go see Padma. Tell Neville I said hello," I said cheerfully, hiding my little white lie with a smile. I just needed some time to myself for once. I took a detour back down the corridor to an empty compartment, navigated my trunk into the luggage rack, and sat down with a book. Kicking my feet up onto the seat, I started to read. I took a moment to marvel at how peaceful it was. No Gryffindors to cause me trouble, no Slytherins to insult me. Everything was perfect.
  8. The compartment door opened with a snap. I closed my eyes and resisted the urge to curse at whoever had blundered in. I slowly turned my head, a bunch of excuses jumping to my tongue to explain what I was doing to my friends. Instead, I met the dark grey eyes of a girl I had never seen before. She looked about my age, but she exuded a very confident and bold air that I certainly lacked. She was rather pretty as well; she had streaked medium brown hair that fell halfway down her back in messy, styled waves and slightly tanned skin. "Is this seat taken?" she asked, gesturing to the seat across from me. I contemplated telling her yes, but my more friendly nature took over just then. "No, it's all yours," I said, giving her a warm smile. Grinning in return, she started heaving her trunk into an overhead luggage rack. "I can help with that," I offered, pulling out my wand. I muttered the incantation and let it glide smoothly into place. I had learned a thing or two from my own luggage experiences. "Thanks," she puffed, slumping into a seat. "I don't really see why we need to drag around fifty books anyway." "Only fifty? I must have a hundred," I joked. She laughed good-naturedly and stuck out her hand after a moment. "I'm Sabrina Kimble," she introduced herself confidently. I opened my mouth to introduce myself in turn, but it appeared she already knew. "And I'm pretty sure I know who you are. You're practically a celebrity around Hogwarts now. Cassandra Levell, Triwizard Champion and the girl practically every guy at Hogwarts in drooling over," she said exaggeratedly. A faint blush crept across my face. "Well, I don't know about that, but I am Cassandra," I said embarrassedly. "Well, it's nice to meet you, Cassandra. Can I call you Cassie, or maybe Sandra? Cassandra just seems so long," she teased lightly. "Whatever you'd like," I replied. "What about Andy?" a new voice sounded from the door Sabrina had left wide open.
  9. A rather handsome-looking boy was standing in the doorway, a devilish smile on his face. He also looked around my age, if not a bit older. He was certainly taller. A full head of black hair covered his scalp and a pair of keen light brown eyes darted around the compartment curiously. "Mind if I join you?" he asked. "Yes," Sabrina said at the same time I said "No." I laughed. Sabrina rolled her eyes. "Well, sit down then," she said, as if it were a huge bother. "And you are?" I asked the new arrival. "Edward Linton," he said with a friendly smile. "Not Eddy? Perhaps Ed?" I teased. He just laughed. I was warming to my two new compartment companions. It was nice to start fresh on occasion, especially given the recent events occurring with my other friends. "So are you both in the same house?" I asked. They seemed to know each other a bit. Sabrina nodded. "Gryffindor," she explained. "But I'm a year older. Sixth year," Edward added a bit smugly. I should have known. More Gryffindors. Why not Hufflepuff for once? They caused less trouble. We continued the conversation in that sort of direction for a while. I learned a few things about them and their lives, though I tried to dodge questions they directed at me.
  10. As we were busy discussing the new Defense Against the Dark Arts curriculum and our new professor, Edward suddenly lowered his voice conspiratorially. "Is it true that you and some other students started some organization against Umbridge? Dumbledore's Army?" he asked eagerly. I stiffened up slightly; normally it wasn't something we discussed among outsiders for fear of being discovered. Sabrina leaned in as well, waiting for my response. I slowly nodded. "You can't tell anyone, though. And it's not something against Umbridge; it's just to learn how to really defend ourselves," I explained. "Can I join?" Sabrina asked abruptly. "Well...yes, I suppose. I mean, you'll have to sign the document and it is going against school rules, so I don't know if you'll want to risk it..." I said uncertainly. Usually Hermione took care of the recruiting process. "The Sorting Hat put me in Gryffindor for a reason. Where do I sign?" was Sabrina's confident reply. Edward nodded in agreement, an excited look on his face. I smiled. It seemed I had just found two new members of Dumbledore's Army.
  11. *music826* Well, I hope you enjoyed this edition and the introduction of the characters Edward Linton and Sabrina Kimble, submitted by @hp4evr and @rnckenzie, respectively. I hope I did them justice, and if not, feel free to leave some suggestions to improve my portrayal. I just thought it seemed natural to include them in the DA given their characteristics. Ideas and comments are always greatly appreciated. :) I have a ton of things planned for the second half of fifth year, and I'm excited to share them with you, but I still have a lot of space to fill between events. Until next time :) You know, I really should think of something catchier to end my editions. :P
