Maeve grinned. ‘Why, thank you.’

“You’re very welcome.” Lavender smiled. One of her brothers was standing by the counter.
“Your shift is over.” He raised an eyebrow at how close the two girls were. “This is Maeve, I’m assuming?” He recognized her from the local papers. -
Maeve made a disgusted face at him and looked back at Lavender, playing with her hands and pulling her a little closer.

Lavender gave a nod to her brother, moving out of the counter.

Maeve followed.

Lavender grinned,

Maeve beamed.

Lavenders brother gave the two of them a side eye. Lavender noticed. “Cmon, let’s go.”

Maeve poked her tongue out at the brother and turned back around to follow Lavender.

Lavender saw her making faces, giggling.

Maeve giggled, pulling her close.

Lavender leaned into her. She walked into the house part of the bakery.

Maeve followed, playing with her hand. ‘I don’t think your brother likes me,’ Maeve said, grinning.

“He might’ve seen you on the papers…..” lavender admit with a chuckle.

‘Pfft, what did they say about me?’ Maeve said, still grinning.
