Lavender and Maeve

Maeve didn’t say anything, staring at the other side of the street. A few minutes after, Maeve walked into the bakery and got in line.

After a moment, Lavender looked up, meeting her eyes. "What can I get for you?" She asked in the fake customer service voice.

‘Strawberry macaroon, please.’ Maeve put a few North Kingdom coins on the counter. ‘Can we talk? Without yelling at each other?’

Lavender put two macaroons in her bag. Sure she was mad, but she was still going to give Maeve special treatment. "I guess."

Maeve put a few more coins on the counter. ‘I’m really sorry.’

Lavender scooted the coins back to her. "I know I'm clingy." She whispered, staring at the coins.

‘I don’t mind it. It’s actually really cute. I don’t know why I said that,’ Maeve said quietly, sliding them back over to Lavender.

"You obviously do mind." Lavender mumbled, sliding them away again.

Maeve slid them back over to her. ‘I don’t, I promise. I’m really sorry I said that. It was a stupid thing to try and use against you.’

"But it's not a stupid thing to use against me. It makes sense for you to get mad about it." Lavender grabbed her hand and put the coins in them. "I don't need extra money."

‘You gave me two, I’m not committing a theft today,’ Maeve tried to put them back in her hand.

Lavender put her hands under the counter. "Nope, I'm not taking the money."

Maeve grumbled. She was holding up the line. She teleported behind the counter.

Lavender gave a small smile, helping customers.

Maeve nibbled on her macaroons, watching her.
