"Um...hi." He was afraid he'd scare the boy, knowing this kind of thing was highly uncharacteristic of his family so he would be thought of the same way. "I-I'm really sorry to b-bother you again, but..." He showed the basket he prepared. "I wanted to bring you all t-this. I come in p-peace..."
-
He blinked, and only stared at the basket. He didn't take it at all. He was too scared to. "Take it back," he mumbled, his accent heavy. "I hope this isn't game."
He heart was beating like crazy, and he knew he was frightened. He tried to hide it, but it seeped through his voice. -
"I promise, I'm not playing any games or t-tricks." His stutter had lessened, and he tried to stay determined. "Please, I'm not like my family. I want to help you all. I don't want to cause any harm." He showed him the contents in the basket of the fresh food. "I promise."
-
His bitter look softened a bit, and his hunger made him give in. He took the basket, in a very shy and careful manner. He then looked back to the other boy, a very small smile on his face. "Gracias. Gracias.." he whispered.
-
He felt his heart beat happier, glad that the other accepted it. "Um...you're welcome?" He smiled shyly, not sure if he understood correctly.
-
He smiled a it wider, and nodded at him. The men from the fields called his name though, and he didn't know whether to stay and thank the boy some more, or just run off.
-
Jamie decided to leave it there that night, giving one last smile and wave before heading back to his place. Something about it all made his heart race like crazy, which he figured could have just been excitement with a mix of fear.
-
He waved as well, not sure what else to do. After the boy was gone, he ran back to the crowd. "He gave me some food!" he cried out softly, the basket in hand. There was a sense of disbelief, until he showed them the basket.
-
The boy snuck back in, hearing that his family hadn't even noticed, engrossed in themselves in the living area. He went back up and crawled into his bed, feeling better than he had in a long time. As the excitement started to wound down, he closed his eyes and tried to get some sleep.
-
Before they all went to sleep in their small, dirty, and cramped cabins, they ate from what the boy had given them. "It's good," Girvan's father said.
When they finished they all lied down on the floor, to sleep and wake up for a new day. -
The next morning, Jamie woke up early again, yawning and getting up. He remembered his brother should be leaving with the horses soon, so he waited for him to leave by watching out his window. Once the coast was clear, he went out again, taking a walk on the land and getting dew from the morning grass on the bottom of his night pants.
-
Bright and early in the morning, they were up again. Harvesting, planting, weeding.. All that type of stuff. Girvan was watching them and watched over the group to make sure everyone was fine. He hoped they wouldn't have another day like yesterday, with someone passing out.
-
He carefully snuck over to the fields, shyly waving when he saw Girvan. He knew he must have looked silly in his pajamas out their, but he just wanted to check on them again. "Hi, is everything okay?" He asked lightly.
-
He noticed the same boy from before, and didn't know what to say really. The same feeling of fear still built up within him as he saw that he approached. "S-Si... I-I mean, yes. We are fine, t-thank you."
-
"I'm glad, I just wanted to make sure." He looked off at the field, seeing how everyone was working. "You all work really hard, I'm sorry my family is so harsh to you all. You deserve better."
