Derrick started to write a poem about the beautiful outside world. When he finishe, he read it over, correcting any spelling mistakes or just editing. Derrick smiled contently and closed the book.

Evelyn chased the bird around for a little while, eventually stopping. It landed for a little while, and she hid from it, her tail swishing back and forth eagerly.

Derrick's mind went to Evelyn. He pondered about why she barely talked to people. He just guessed that it was shyness getting the better of her and left it at that.

She sprung, almost catching the bird. She trudged back to the house, weighed down by disappointment.

Derrick sighed, he was getting bored. He tried to fond the remote to his TV, but found it across the room, and did t feel like getting up. "Whatever." he mumbled.

She came back into the house, heading back to the kitchen.

The boredom got the best of him and Derrick got up and took the remote, and switched it to Nickelodeon. They were showing Spongebob. "That'll do.." he muttered.

When she found he wasn't there, she went to go look for him again.

As derricks father and his friend got louder, probably talking about politics, Serrick turned up the volume. "Stupid dad.." he muttered and continued watching TV.

She eventually found his room, coming in with a catlike silence.

He laughed quietly at how Spongebob was singing the krusty krab pizza song. "That never gets old.." he smiled to himself.

She sat down next to him quietly.

Derrick sensed a presence and looked to his side. He saw Evelyn, and jumped a little. "Oh, gosh." he clutched his chest. "How long have you been here?"

"I just came in." She yawned.

"Oh." Derrick raised his eyebrows. "Well hi." he smiled.
