She purred just a bit.

Derricks father looked up, and Derrick looked away. He let go of her hand and looked away.

The purring stopped, she wondered what they had been saying when she and her father weren't listening.

He faked a smile towards his father.
"Son, are you ok?" he asked.
Derrick nodded. "I'm fine." he shrugged and didn't say anything else. -
She looked over at the kitchen. One of the cooks was looking at her, but then turned away.

He started to play with Evelyn's hand.

She looked over at him.

He looked back at her, and smiled.
