Derrick felt as if something weren't going right. He took in a deep breath and tried to ignore it.

"I'm afraid you'll have to leave." The manager stepped forward.
"B-but..." she stammered, frowning.
"Out."
"Please let me stay please please please?" She looked up at him.
"Get out of my kitchen." He reached to grab her and drag her out. Before he reached her, looked away, then back up at him. Her ears flattened against her hair and her pupils grew larger as she made the adorable kitten face.
"Please?" -
"Should I check on Evelyn?" Derrick asked, a little worried.

"She has been in there for longer than usual..." Her father got up, walking to the kitchen.
Meanwhile, the cooks had abandoned their work, looking at Evelyn and the manager.
"C'mon, she's pretty cute." One of them said as she walked toward the manager.
"Yeah, she is..." another said, watching her.
"Alright, fine. Just get out of the kitchen." The manager frowned.
Evelyn smiled. "Thank you!" She hugged the manager and ran out. -
"I'll go with you.." Derrick said, walking tothe kitchen with him. His father opened the door and Derrick smiled when he saw Evelyn.

"Hey Derrick, hey Dad. I can stay." She hugged them both.

"That's great.." Derrick mumbled, with a smile.

She took his hand, running back to the table. Her father froze, watching.

Derrick chuckled nervously, reluctantly letting go of her hand.

She frowned. Her father walked over.

Derrick looked away.

Why are you talking about me?

She sat down, picking up the menu again. Her father sat down as well.

He slid into the seat next to her.
