Confusion crossed her face, but she looked away and out the window. She focused on the birds.

Derrick just relaxed and looked out the window, watching everythinggo by.

Eventually they reached the restaurant. She slid off of the seat in the car and followed the fathers into the restaurant.

Derrick still trailed behind, walking slowly.

They chose a booth, and sat down. She slid into the seat, hoping Derrick would sit next to her.

Derrick sat next to Evelyn and smiled.

She reached for his hand under the table and entwined her fingers with hers. She squeezed his hand gently.

He squeezed her hand back smiling wider now.

Their fathers didn't seem to notice. A waitress walked over, setting three menus on the table. "Sorry, we only have three left right-" she paused, noticing Evelyn's feline ears. She frowned for a moment, then continued. "As I was saying, we only have three menus right now. Sorry." She glanced once more at Evelyn's ears and hurried off.
Unaffected, Evelyn opened a menu and scooted closer to Derrick, sharing it with him. -
Derrick glared at the waitress for a second then looked at the menu.

Evelyn's father didn't seem to care, either. He went straight to his menu.
She read the menu in silence. -
"Did you see the way the waitress looked at you? It made me wanna punch her." Derrick whispered.

She smiled a bit. "I'm used to it. Happens all the time," she whispered back.

"That doesn't make it right.." he murmured.
Gotta go. Goodnight. =^-^= -
She giggled quietly. "After this, the manager will come out, talk with me for a moment, and decide it's fine that I'm here."
