Our "When Will I Die" Quiz?

  1. Ash stopped just for a moment when he saw April sitting on the ground, her red hand covering a bloody wound. She was crying. He had to admit that he had maybe a small crush on her before. Okay, maybe a little bigger than small. And seeing her like that in such a fragile state made him feel like he needed to save her. Suddenly he felt a sharp pain in his shoulder and he winced in pain. Zac had taken a boulder and smashed it into his shoulder blade. Ash withered in pain on the ground, his shoulder dislocated. Zac bent down so that they were face to face. "I'm not human anymore," Zac said with a smile. Ash almost laughed. "Obviously." The smile on Zac's face widened as he took Ash's shoulder and squeezed it hard. Ash tried his best not to scream out. He didn't want to give the satisfaction. If only I can get my hand on my shoulder, he thought. Out of the corner of his eye he saw Gumbo about to finish April off. This was it.
  2. Ash kicked Zac in the face, sending him hurtling backwards into the dirt and out his hand on his shoulder, trying to heal his dislocated area as fast as possible. "Come on," he muttered under his breath. Zac was getting up, and so was he. "Switch!" Alex and Gumbo looked up, puzzled. "Take Zac!" Ash commanded. The two of them switched sides while Ash stood over April. "Ash," she whispered. "Help me. Please."
  3. At one point, like the idiotic person I am, I had this crazy theory that Christofer had a secret twin he never told me about. But after I realized how mediocre that sounded, I decided to stick with my original hunch that I was dealing with a real Christofer, and a fake one. It was maddening. I studied them so hard with my eyes, trying to find the genuine one, but I couldn't. It made me disgusted with myself. You would think that I would be able to tell the difference between the two of the boys, but if you were in my position, you honestly wouldn't be able to tell either. It was like one of them was looking in a mirror. Whatever feelings I felt towards the Christofer that was with me before the lights turned off were gone at this moment. The dead eyes were gone, the creepy smile was gone. All the attributes that made me suspicious in the first place was gone.
  4. I didn't know what I was going to do. Then the one on the left tried taking a step towards me. I rose my bow so that it was level with his chest. "Don't move." He stopped and said, "You have to hurry. The relocation is going to happen soon." I narrowed my eyes. "What relocation?" His hazel eyes flicked from me to the door. He didn't need to answer because my expression showed I already knew. "We have to go," he said. "Kill him before he does anything." The other Christofer just stood there as if he wasn't worried. He looked at me and sighed. "I know you'll make the right decision. You don't need me to banter on about whether I'm real or not." The Christofer on the left started looking around, worried. "You need to hurry. Leave both of us here, but you need to go now. Go help Ash and Alex and Gumbo. But know that I love you." And that, my friends, is when I knew.
  5. Christofer—the real one—watched as she went up to the fake beside him. He wasn't worried before, but now a pang of urgency was waving over him like water crashing onto a rock. He was so sure of it. She smiled and wrapped her arms around him, shooting Christofer a murderous glare. "No," he muttered under his breath. "I love you too," he heard her whisper. No. This wasn't happening. He should have done something more. He pulled her into a kiss. Christofer looked away as an overwhelming grief started pressuring in his head, growing heavier and heavier as each second passed. They pulled away while she smiled the smile that he loved so much. "I love you, Christofer," she said softly. Then, to Christofer's utter shock, she drove an arrow through his stomach. He gasped and stepped back, clutching the arrow with his hands as he fell onto the ground.
  6. Stabbing somebody with an arrow that resembles one you love sucks. But I guess it was the right thing to do. I pivoted my foot and looked Christofer. We held our gaze for a while, and it just felt like it was just him and me that mattered right now. Despite the fact that I was a little angered by him for not trying harder, I couldn't help but run up and hug him. He wrapped his arms around me, his breath hot on my neck, that made me get goosebumps and my insides get all warm and cozy. His touch felt familiar, he smelled like pomegranates, and my stomach was overloaded with butterflies like the first time at the mail box. This was him. This was my Christofer. He pulled away a little bit from the hug and then kissed me. His lips falling onto mine, light as snowflakes, his incredible ability to just make you want more. He pulled away, the kiss still lingering on my lips. I could tell I was blushing, and so did he as he grinned. He rest his forehead atop mine. "Hi." I laughed, a sound I haven't heard myself do in a long time. "Hi." He kissed my forehead. "You're a little late, you know that?"
  7. Ash remembered the first time he saw her. She was so innocent and fragile looking. Kind of like a kitten, except bigger. And now here she was, ready to die again. April was curled up in a ball on the ground, pleading silently at Ash with big brown eyes. How long was he standing there with his sword raised above his head? Five minutes at the least. "We can be together now," she had said. "I'm here and you can come with Oath and me." He heard a big crack from behind him. He peered over his shoulder as Zac was on the ground twitching disturbingly. Gumbo finished him off with a blow to the head. It looked so easy for him. A dog. So why couldn't Ash do it? He's killed people before, and this wasn't even the real April. His mind knew that; he wasn't dumb. But his conscious and his heart was telling him that this was the same girl that he talked to by the pond on the first night in the Core.
  8. "Ash, that's not really her," he heard Alex said. He ignored him. Then he heard ______'s voice. "The door!" He looked sideways for a moment to see the blood red doors slowly shrinking down like the tree did. "Ash, go!" She yelled. Ash looked at April one more time in the eyes. "Bye," she whispered. "I'm sorry." She let out a soft gasp as Ash's sword plunged through her.
  9. It was too late. The door was too small for a human to go inside. The wounded Christofer was nowhere to be found, and two more people were dead. "I'm sorry," Ash muttered under his breath. "It's my fault." Then, as if on cue, the walls and the ceiling started rumbling and shaking as if an earthquake was taking place. The "stable" dirt was dissolving like water, and the ceiling was giving out soon. We all started running towards the exit, even though we had the idea it would be closed. Then the ceiling started caving in. Mounds of dirt in forms of chunks and clunks started falling piece by piece on top of our heads. Then the ground started shaking violently, almost knocking all of us off our feet. Roots started showing themselves from the trees and plants, and soon enough, the ceiling crashed down like a big thunderstorm. There was way more dirt than I expected, and I thought I was going to drown. Minutes went by until the grumbling stopped. The sun was blazing overhead, my eyes adjusting to the change of scene. I looked around. We were in the same place we started from.
  10. We were so close. I was ready, we were right there, a few feet away from the door, and we blew it. We lost our opportunity. "What happened?" Ash asked, sitting up from his bed of dirt. "The location changed," I said. "What do you mean?" I got up and kicked a rock. "It means we've accomplished nothing! Shadow told me the entrance to the Underbelly changes every two years. Oath knew that. He's been planning it all along." Alex coughed loudly. "Eh, it's not that bad." I glared at him. "Not so bad? We have no idea where the entrance is and if it's even in the Banished Provinces, we need another wizard, Gritzo is probably pissed off, and—Where's Gumbo?" Alex smiled. "I opened the door for him before it closed all the way. He's probably in the Underbelly right now." I widened my eyes. "So our fate relies on a dog?" Christofer half-smiled. "He's not just a dog. He's Gumbo. He talks, spits fire and acid, and he's a genius. Besides, he's done this before," he teasingly nudged me, knowing that Gumbo and I aren't the best of friends, "remember? Remember the first time he helped save our butts?" I nodded my head. "I just hope he's smart enough not to pick any fights. As much as I hate saying this, I don't want to go to the Underbelly to find out he's dead." Alex put his hand comfortably on my shoulder. "We're not going to. I promise."
