  • Jesus, people. Emo is a subculture, based off of punk & goth, INFLUENCED BY THE MUSICAL GENRE OF WHICH THE NAME HAS COME FROM. Terms evolve, and you can't think that because emo once only meant the music that it will always remain so. Rock once meant just a stone. Now it means both a stone AND the music. Likewise, emo not ONLY means the music, but the subculture AS WELL.

    And you can't say that you don't choose to be emo. Everyone has their own style and musical preferences. They usually relate to one subculture or another. But, yes, in fact, you DO choose your own style, consciously or subconsciously. It probably isn't chosen for you.

    By the way, whoever said it's not fun to be emo, that's ENTIRELY dependent on the individual 'emo'. You are referring to depression. Depression frequently co-occurs with alternative styles but they are not mutually inclusive nor interchangeable, as some would believe. Not all emo individuals are depressed, and do not exclude them from their personal style and/or musical preference because of that.

  • Wow, I really hate when people confuse themselves like this. EMO isn't really what alot of these people think it is and it makes me angry.

    you're probably saying then why did you take this? Obvious question, I was bored and wanted to make fun of something.

    First of all- EMO is technically a type of Rock music characterized by melodic musicianship and expressive, often confessional lyrics. It originated in the mid-1980s.

    So really when you say your EMO you are saying your a type of music? Okay...

    Second- If you think EMO is the way you dress or look, you are mixing it up with Punk, which is also undoubtedly a type of music. So please people get it in your heads that you are not EMO and if you actually took this quiz, you aren't EMO. Educate yourself on a word before you go running around claiming to be it.

    Some people are so ignorant these days. *smh* Going to go play around on the interwebs some more for fun :)

  • Wow, just wow I can't believe what I am reading. All you guys are talking about how cool it is to be emo and its not. You don't choose to be emo because its cool, it just happens to you because of your personality or health problem. The only reason I'm even on this website is because my friend told me about how many f***ing posers are here basically making fun about how miserable we are. F*** you guys.

  • wow it told me i was emo when im not im no emo at all i got emo freinds in stuff but i have to say i hate when people brag how grate emo is i mean so do half my emo freinds agree the other half are the ones that brag if your going to be something be it cuz you want to be it not cuz you think its cool...Xp

    yeah its right, i have a pretty big punk side but apparently that makes me awesome! although second was depressed emo... kind of right i guess i mean i cant exactly be happy all the time knowing how f---ed up the world is and how little is being done to fix it... EMOTASTIC FTW!!!
