My eyes widened at this. Married? I turned my focus back to Phoebe's father. "I assure you, we'll be out soon enough." I glanced over at Phoebe. "And please, for the love of God, give your daughter a break."

My father's attention switched from me to Aaron.Getting up in his face, he said,"Don't you dare tell me how to raise my daughter."
I stepped between them,"Stop it. You already have taken his home away." -
I shut my eyes and let out a shaky breath. "Please..." I turned away. "Leave..."

I walked inside and quietly shut the door, banging my head numerous times as I slid to the floor. Face it. You're falling in love with the daughter of the guy who's taking your life away, Aaron. -
"You didn't have to act that way."
"And you didn't have to defend him."said my father.
We were driving to a restaurant where I would have to meet my "husband-hopefully-not-to-be". We soon sat down at a table and waited. -
I decided to skip school. I couldn't deal with all of this. Afraid that he'd come back and demolish the house while we weren't looking, I spent my day out on the front porch, sketching whatever popped into my head. Once I finished, I realized the horrors of what I'd drawn... It was all of the hurt and betrayal and anger I'd felt over the years but had managed to hide. It scared me, how much of a monster I could be.

After about an hour of waiting, I was ready to get up and leave. But just as I got up my father yanked me down into my seat, gesturing towards the rich looking people heading our way. When the youngest of the two sat down beside me, I though to myself,"Ugh,why?"

I tapped my pencil against the page, pondering what my next move would be; how I would avoid the disastrous fate that my father and I shared. I shook my head and stood up, heading inside.
