Thread Topic: So...

My father had wanted to show me how to do the job I'd inherit from him when he died. "Where are we going?"I asked, bored. "To the last old structure. I have to condemn it today." I was a little taken aback by the lack of feeling in his voice over taking someone's house away. I sighed as the car pulled up front. My father got out and then I did.
-
I'll switch over to first person as well.
I looked up to find a car parked in front of my house. It's probably nothing... I thought, getting back to my sketch. I heard the car doors open and slam shut. Surely they're not here for the house... -
"Whose the owner of this house, young man?"my father said, dragging me to the front steps of the structure. There was a boy there, kinda cute but to live in a place like this.....so not my type."Phoebe say hello." "Hi,"I said with a little wave.
I so didn't want to be there. I could think of better ways to waste my time. -
I smiled nervously. "Uh, hello... My father, Sir..." I hesitated, a lump forming in my throat. I swallowed and continued. "It's been in my family for generations..." I set my sketch aside, standing up. "Is there... Something wrong?"
-
Without a word my father went inside and left me with the boy."I'm sorry,um,goodbye."I said with a slightly sad expression on my face. I turned to go.
My father entered a man's study. "May I have a word?" -
I glanced towards the door. What the hell was that about? Just waltzing into our house like that? I then turned towards the girl, Phoebe.
"Oh... well... Sure... Bye..." She was so sweet looking, so innocent.
My father looked up from his notebook. "Hmmm? Of course, Aar -" He stopped short, realizing that it was the man who had been pressing to take down the house for a long time.
"Oh... I didn't expect to see you so soon." -
"I thought as much, judging by the look on your face." He took a document from inside his coat. "It's done, I need you to vacate the premises by next week."
-
He stood up and took the document, scanning the page. "Ah, I'm afraid that won't be possible... This property has been within my family for generations. With all due respect, I have to decline your request."
-
"You have to. The house is too old. Useless you leave willingly,I'm afraid that I'll have to use force."
-
"God, I never knew the city would uproot a family..." he growled. "Just because most conform to your ways of life doesn't mean that you can waltz right in and take mine," he snarled under his breath.
-
I looked at the time. We were supposed to have left five minutes ago.
My father snickered. "And the city orders it. Good bye."
Getting out of the car, I noticed my father coming out of the building."Phoebe, get in the car."he ordered, pushing the boy out of his way. -
I stumbled to the ground from the force of the man's push. "s---," I muttered, shaking my head and getting up. My father came to stand behind me, placing a hand on my shoulder. He seemed shaken up.
"We have to leave..." he muttered coldly. He stared coldly at the man as he drove away.
"What? What do you mean, 'we have to leave'?" I was in a pure state of shock. They had followed through. They were taking our house and uprooting our lives. My mother had warned us that this day would come before she had passed away, but I didn't believe her.
"We're getting out of here. You're to go to school until the end of the week. I'll pick you up. We're going to leave the city," he said angrily before heading back to his study, slamming the door shut behind him. -
I got into the car. When he got in I asked,"Why are you taking their house away?"
"Because, it's too old.No one wants it." -
I sat back down on the step and eyed my sketch. I shook my head angrily, ripping the page out and crumpling it into a tiny ball. My life has been tossed aside like their garbage... I tossed the paper ball to the ground. It landed on the grass softly with barely a sound. I looked at their car. "Evil," I spat quietly. "You're the f---ing Devil."
-
"That's mean."I said.
"Well, that's the way society is. Now either sit in here silently or walk home."
"Okay I'll walk." I got out of the car and walked down the street. A few miles? That was nothing.
