"WE grow tons of fruits and vegetables." He said as he opened the door. "And sometimes we have a bunny, or a squirrel, if we're lucky enough to catch one." He said, grinning, knowing it would gross her out.

She saw his smile, but the thought doesn't bother her. "My dad used to hunt. I'm used to it." Dusk replied. Suddenly she paused, "Hey, that was a memory!"

"yea, you'll still remember a few things about your life." He smiled, walking down the stairs. "I used to hunt too, and paint. Sometimes i would draw." He sat down at the table. There were 3 huge of fruit salad, and 1 big plate with an array of decorativally placed vegetables. Each seat had a plate in front of it.

"How do they brainwash us?" Dusk asked, looking at the spread with admiration, "You guys sure know how to set up food here."

"Yea, and, no idea. Lemme introduce you to everyone. A few boys were obviously staring at dusk. "Carter, Jake, Terry, Terrence, Dustin, Sam, Tom, Ben, Zack, and Torren. Alex, Donavan, Nathan, and Adam are runners, out in the forest." The boys smiled at her and started to eat.

"What do you mean, a runner?" She took a bite of a carrot.

"Runners are the guys who go out and explore the forest." Terrence explained.

Dusk smiled. "I could do it," She suggested, "I'm fast and agile for my age. And I can protect myself."

"You'd be surprised." Dusk snapped, angry at him, "stop treating me like a kid. Girls can be good fighters too, you know." -
He rolled his eyes. "Seriously. And besides, runners need half a year of training."
