He shrugged and opened the front door. "Probably..."

"Have any ever, well...died in there?"

"You'll have to ask daniel about that one. I don't know how many." He said, putting his bucket down on the table.

"So, they have died?" She also set her bucket down and waited, unsure of what to do next.

"Yea. There are some pretty gruesome things out there. Not safe for little girls." He said, grinning.

"If you think I'm a little girl, you're obviously much more stupid than I thought you were." She said offhandedly, pretending to be unfazed by his comment.

Jake rolled his eyes and went up to his room just as daniel was walking down.

She saw Daniel coming down and smiled uncertainly at him as she tossed the berries in the sink to clean.

"Already going onto the next step. Good." He nodded and smiled.

"What?" She asked, confused, then realized he meant the berries. "Oh, well, they needed to be washed."

"yea." He looked at her for a while. Maybe she wasn't so bad after all.

She shifted uncomfortably as he stared at her, then grabbed a towel and lifted the berries out of the sink onto the towel to dry.

Daniel grabbed an apple and sat down. "Put them in a bowl when you're done, and put the bowl in the fridge."
