Each team can have a squad of at most 30 players with a maximum of US$9 million to spend on purchasing players. Due to the addition of two new teams, all eight existing teams are disbanded. Each of teams may retain up to four players from the 2010 season, with at most three Indians. Choosing to retain players would subject to a reduction in their salary cap, reducing the amount they may spend on other players.
