What American accent do you really have?

Alright, since the last quiz, which is the most popular thing on the internet right now, was giving out a ridiculous amount of wrong answers, I made a much better US English accent quiz. Remember, this is not about where you're from. It's about what accent you have and that's not always the same thing.

Please don't be disappointed if I left your region out (like Pittsburgh or Vermont) since I couldn't think of any good questions to single them out. This is about what accent you have, not where you're from. Some places like Florida don't have their own accent so people from there usually get something like "Midland" or "Western." And did I mention that this is about what accent you have and not where you're from?

  1. We start with the first standard question. If you say the words "cot" and "caught" do they come out sounding the same or different?
  2. Now how do you say "don" and "dawn"?
  3. So how would you say the words "hock" and "hawk"?
  4. How do you say "caller" and "collar"?
  5. Before we actually look at questions about a different vowel, how do you usually say the word "on"? Does it rhyme with "don" or with "dawn"?
  6. The famous question of "Mary," "merry," and "marry." How do you say them?
  7. How do you say the vowel in the first syllable of "horrible"?
  8. The words "pen" and "pin," how do they sound as you say them typically?
  9. What about "feel" and "fill"?
  10. When you say "about," "mouth," and "house," do they have the same vowel sound as "loud," "down," and "now"?
  11. When you say "like," "night," and "rice," do they have the same vowel sound as "tide," "prize," and "five"?
  12. If you say "bag" does it rhyme with "vague"?
  13. Do you say "whales" and "Wales" differently or the same?
  14. Do you say "do" and "dew" differently?
