  • I think that some of the questions have been reversed. The question if your child likes to be bounced on your knee is labeled a marker for autism if you answer yes. I changed my answer to "no" to see what would happen, and my scored dropped, so it is incorrect. It was impossible for me to get a "0" even when I fiddled with the answers. When I looked up the quiz on another site, it had almost the same questions, but they were labeled correctly.

  • It's mind boggling why this so called "scientific" test is still online?!?! I tried doing it for my 3-year old and got 26%. I tried doing it in multiple ways, just to get a "zero" and I couldn't! Then I read the comments and it clicked -- some of the questions are just plane wrong! What most people would acknowledge as normal kid behaviour (because it IS!) is counted as a sign of autism! f---ing hell! As if we parents don't have enough to worry about! This test NEEDS.. TO BE.. REMOVED!! End of.

  • Problem is, kids do develop differently and no one is "perfect". No child with a few of the "markers" listed would be identified as autistic. While any of the markers might cause concern, you would need to have either a high percentage OR certain markers (self-stimming, not walking, never gives eye contact, etc) before I would rush to my doctor.

  • OMG this test is horrendous! I answered the questions for my autistic son and then again with all the answers you should get for a "normal" child and it still came up at 16%!!!!!!!!!!! What a worrying test for parents of children with absolutely nothing autistic going on!! I am horrified that any this test is on the internet. It should be removed immediately.

  • I don't necessarily think this test is specific enough for small children. There should be a more accurate test for my almost three year old. He has some signs, but I mean really.... There should be a sometimes category for these questions. Also why isn't there any questions on repetitive behavior? Or abusive behavior? Or obvious frustration because he can't make his needs known? A new quiz should be made.

  • Dear all,

this is a well researched screening tool for autism but the scoring is not straightforward. Some of the questions are not counted in determining risk (i.e. does your child like to be bounced). It is irresponsible to post this quiz without explaining clearly how it is scored, who it is designed for and that it is NOT meant to diagnose- but rather be used by pediatricians as a quick screening tool during well checkups to find children ONLY ages 12-36 months at RISK for autism spectrum- nothing more, nothing less... if you would like to see which items are important and how this test is scored go to [no urls]

  • Why are these bizarre comments on this site? KWHero's is just insane.

My friend took this for her son who has vision problems. This can point to several disabilities, or to a child who is very quiet and introspective.

I think you should filter these comments.

  • The scoring is irrelevant.. in general if you score more no's then it would be worth getting the results checked out by a professional.. I wish I'd had access to this test when my son was this age..

  • I agree with xrox. Questions 3,4,5 and 7 are signs of a healthy child not one with autism. I was testing my nephew for autism witch he most likely has and for fun I tested my daughter who definitely does not have it. She scored 23% and I thought that was wrong so when I saw what xrox had to say I changed the answers to 3,4,5 and 7 and she got 0%. Children at age 3 should want to bounce on your knee, play with other children partake in pretend play and want to climb on things. Who came up with this test any way? The age group for children should be broke down more as well. A 3 year old and an 18 year old are going to behave differently of course. Some one should fix this.

  • According to this test questions 3,4,5 and 7 are signs of autism if answered "yes"? Yeah, right!! This test should be removed or at least corrected.

  • Your score is 85%

Your test has indicated that your child may possess nearly all of the indicative markers that can be for Autism Spectrum Disorder. Because the wording of the test can be interpreted in different manners, please follow up with your Pediatrician at your earliest convenience.

It probably means 18 and lower.

  • This test is crap. My son has autism and I was doing it for my daughter. You cannot get a 0% score at all. The lowest I got it was 3% and for that your had to score No on questions 4,5 and 7. Which means your child has to have no interst in other children (red flag!), not like climbing on things, and have no pretend play (BIG red flag!!) What twaddle. My daughter is complete unautsitic and I answerd the questions but she scored 18%!!
