This is a story. One set far below the earths surface. A small city is the only light in this dark world. Beond the city gates lurks a secret. And its a killer.

Some belive its a group of bandits, others a horrid monster. But no one really knows beacuse the only people who go out there are the ones who are banished.And they are not aloud to come back.But when Ilees cousin is banished....Well. You will have to read it.

  1. The night air was cool and crisp. As I lay in the soft springy moss I can’t help but think of him. I still don’t really understand what he had meant. “Someday Ilee. Someday you will understand.” But I don’t. He had been falsely accused of the crime. Any number of us would have stood up for him. But he had told us that now was the time to NOT fight back. Amber. It was all her fault. She was the one who had really stolen the papers. He hadn’t said so but we all knew he knew. And he knew that.
  2. And because he loved her he had refused to let her be banished. And Amber had NOT tried to stop him. Oh why must he do that? Did he not Know we needed him? And I, his own cousin did not try to prove the court wrong. But he had told me not to. And why did daddy the leader of the rebels not stand witness. He cannot be replaced. If only Amber had never held his eye. She was not fit to be working with us anyhow. But now Adren had been to court. Travis would be here shortly to tell me his sentence.
  3. Travis was my brother. My dads only son. And so he had a big effect on any one in the city. And he was brave, fearless almost. But even he had not steped in for Adren. You wouldent think that a few stupid papers would mean much. But to the Govner- no. I was noy going to think about that. And the worst they could do to Adren was banish him. The death sentence was no longer an option. But to be sent beond the city limits-well you were as good as dead after the gate.And we all knew why....
  4. And laying her in the moss thinking of Adren was not going to help him.But I still knew he would be banished. Travis was walking to me now. A frown made lines in his already wrinkeld face. Worring and stress made those lines. And Pain."Ilee. Im so sorry. But..." But I knew. I had already known. He pulled me up. I placed my head on his shoulder. And cried. And the tears felt so strang. I had not cried after....No.I wasent going to think of that. Not now not ever. " You know" Said Travis"Your a lot like your mom. She would have cried to." My mom. not his.
  5. She was not really my mom. She was Adrens mom. But he was as close as a real mom would be. But she had been banished long ago. We no longer spoke of it. No one. Nor did we speak of other things: Are dad being a drunk army leader, Adrens dad beating him, My real mom running away with the baker. It was just one of many things we did not speak of. And now that Adren was gone he would be added to the list. But even if we dident speak of him none of us would forget him. No one would.
