  1. How many toilets are or will be available in near proximity to your subject? Do not consider other factors in your answer - only the sheer number of usable toilets.
  2. How high is the demand for the toilets that are available?
  3. Is gender parity an issue? Are there more toilets for one gender? Or, on the other hand, is the crowd of toilet users skewed toward the gender of your subject?
  4. How long is your subject going to be at the mercy of the particular situation you are outlining?
  5. Is bathroom access an issue? Is something preventing your subject from using the nearby toilets?
  6. How many liquids is your subject likely to consume during this timeframe?
  7. Are there any factors that will increase the odds that everyone needs the bathroom during one short window? For example, in between classes or during a break at a show or sporting event.
  8. Is your subject wearing any clothing that will create extra difficult bathroom scenarios?
  9. Is shame a factor? Is your subject likely to be too embarrassed or otherwise ashamed of needing the bathroom?
  10. Is bathroom cleanliness a factor? Are the bathrooms available deemed to be gross to use?
  11. Would stopping for a bathroom significantly inconvenience your subject or someone they’re with?
  12. Is a group dynamic at play? Would your subject feel embarrassed or otherwise unwilling to raise their restroom needs to the group?
  13. Is a power dynamic at play? Is there someone the subject looks up to as in control that has some say into whether or not the bathroom is utilized?
  14. Is privacy easy to come by if your subject decided to relieve themselves outside of a restroom?
  15. Is the subject obligated to be doing something that makes it harder to leave for a bathroom? For instance: working or watching kids.
  16. Is your character enjoying something they don’t want to miss out on? For instance, a concert.
  17. Is your subject beginning in this scenario with an empty bladder?
  18. Is the subject indoors or outdoors?
