Oliver laughed nervously. ‘No he isn’t, I mean, if we take too long he might, I just need the man to hurry up,’ he said. He was lying.

“You’re a terrible liar.” Oliver sounded too on edge for Jayden to believe him.

‘It’ll be fine!’ Oliver didn’t feel like explaining everything about what Harrow could do would help him. ‘Ashblood just disintegrates to powder when exposed to air, and we need it in a liquid. That’s why nobody’s going to give it to us unless it’s urgent.’

Jayden nodded. “Alright.”

(You should go to sleep soon so you don’t get in trouble again lol)
The man came back out. ‘We’ve got none left, sorry kid.’
‘Are you sure?’
‘Yep. I can give you the name of the last person who bought some, though. Maybe you could negotiate, since he bought a lot…’
Oliver immediately perked. ‘Really? Thank you so much, yes please.’
‘Give me a second…’ The store owner rifled through a notebook, eventually finding the latest page. ‘Henrik Peterson.’ Astrid’s best friend. -
(Naaaah I’m good)
Jayden immediately realized who it was. “Goddamn it.” He sunk to the floor, hands pulling at his hair. -
Oliver frowned, stepping over to him. ‘Who the hell is Henrik?’ he asked.

“Astrid’s best friend.” Jayden mumbled. He knew his brother was horrid, but he didn’t think he’d stoop this low. “We gotta go back to the castle.”

‘Oh, s---. Yeah, that’s probably a good idea.’ Oliver helped him. ‘Stop pulling at your hair unless you want chronic hair loss at 35.’

Jayden didn’t listen to him, but stood up. “Let’s go.”

‘Thanks for your help!’ Oliver called to the man as they walked out, who shook his head in a “oh god the youth of today” way.

Jayden practically sprinted over to the castle.

Oliver ran after him.

Jayden rushed in. “Astrid, you b----!” He screamed at the top of his lungs. “You get your jackass over here!”

Some of the servants looked at Jayden like he was crazy. Oliver tried his best not to laugh. He found angry Jayden terrifying.
Astrid was leaning against the doorway of Jayden’s room.
