“I won’t.” Jayden murmured, trying to relax him. “I’m here, don’t worry.”

Chester sniffled, clinging to him. He buried his face in his neck. ‘Why do you need Ashblood?’

“To help with your hallucinations.”

‘What did you say about him killing me?’

“Nothing. It’s okay.”

Chester snuggled closer.

Jayden let him.

Chester buried his face in his shoulder. 'Can I come with you to get the Ashblood?'

Jayden paused. “I guess. Do you really want to?” He didn’t want Chester to go anywhere near astrids’ friends, especially with his hallucinations, but denying it felt wrong.

'I don't want to be left alone,' Chester said, looking up at him with puppy eyes.

“I can have Aster and Atlas stay with you…. I don’t want you getting hurt if you tag along.”

'Okay,' Chester mumbled.

'I'll be fine, I can handle myself.'
