Why do people fake did ?
-
I think this question has a lot of answers to it. It could be attention. It could be an undiagnosed mental illness. It could be many things.
Actual cases of D.I.D (Multiple Personality Disorder) are rare. -
Even being diagnosed with a dissociative disorder, I try to steer clear of claiming DID specifically because we don't know. I also don't try to give advice because I'm still learning about it myself. So even if you have a diagnosis, it's still best to let professionals explain. I think people fake DID specifically because they're fascinated with the idea of "pretending" to be someone else. Meanwhile, they don't understand that alters are caused by trauma and are a means to cope. Yes, alters can be triggered by positive stimulants or can appear to be overall positive, it's not something you force onto yourself. DID comes from your body trying to protect itself and pick up the pieces after being shattered, if that makes any sense.
