Enneagram Counterpassion Test

Quiz Image

Welcome to the only Enneagram counterpassion test available! There are different ways we deal with our weaknesses. Some will simply act upon them, while others will try to act in an opposite way to counter them. You may already know about the counterphobic 6, who tries to act against their core passion, fear, instead of acting along with it. This leads them to aggressively face their problems, unlike the regular phobic 6.

This still leaves the question of why the Six alone would have this dual characteristic. To solve this dilemma, some Enneagram authors have argued that there is a counterpassion version of each type. This test determines your counterpassion type, however, you may not be one: you must compare your test results here to your results at the Enneagram Passion Test. The result in which you got a higher percentage in is you.

  1. When facing my weaknesses, I...
  2. I want to be tolerant, neutral, and objective, so I hide my inner harsh judgment of others' errors; but the anger still bubbles up inside of me even if I am not aware of it.
  3. I affirm that my assistance was only a small act of helpfulness among many others, but that does nothing but to refocus the attention: it is not about being proud of the assistance that I bring, but of my false humility.
  4. I use a reserved approach regarding success and competence as an unconscious action to lower expectations and thereby avoid failure.
  5. Rather than to admit my envy, I declare others' possessions as undesirable, and continue claiming to be satisfied with who I am and what I have in order to appear self-sufficient.
  6. I want to appear generous, so I will give an enormous amount of information about my subject of interest. Avarice is still in me, however, because I manage to give this information to people who do not desire it and, thus, inevitably will not understand it or use it.
  7. To deal with my intense fear, I overcompensate by being harsh and aggressively facing dangers.
  8. In order to avoid hedonism, I practice excessive self-control, wanting to appear to be serious, and thus my thirst for self-control becomes so excessive, that it becomes into a battle cry, as if more is always better.
  9. In order to avoid being excessive, I act in a simplistic manner; measured, careful, and reticent, holding back my intense anger, while choosing an ascetic way of life, but at the same time I also fail to understand that excess of simplicity is still excess.
  10. To avoid being a sloth, I am hyperactive, perpetually agitated, and overloaded with tasks, but I am still idle in the fact that, the more I do, the more I forget myself.
