Cross Stitch RPG Alignment

This is a quiz designed for the Pixel Stitch RPG, to determine your character's alignment. If you happen to stumble across this quiz, feel free to join us! :)

This is all in good fun and no judgements should be made about other stitcher's alignments or stitching styles. These are all valid choices and there's no 'wrong' way to stitch! But we had to assign these options different values to make it fit the traditional RPG alignment chart. You're not evil just because you stitch differently than others, I promise.

Explore:

How far are you willing to trail stitches along the back of your project?
- No more than 5 stitches away. Gotta keep the back tidy!
- No more than 10 stitches away. You don't want to risk miscounting.
- As far as it needs to go. You don't want to have to re-thread you needle if you can avoid it.
What do you do when you make a large counting mistake on a project?
- Frog it right away and keep going.
- Start over, it's not worth the effort to frog.
- Take a break, but frog it and pick it back up in a month or two.
- Add it to your never-ending UFO pile and move on to your next design.
- Destroy it! It's clearly cursed!
Once you've finished a stitch, what do you do with it?
- Frame it or fully finish it right away. Hang it up or gift it as soon as possible.
- Put it away until the perfect finishing technique strikes you.
- Leave it unfinished until you figure out who you're going to gift it to.
- Give it as a gift, but make them get their own frame.
- It's going in a drawer somewhere never to be seen again.
How many projects do you work on at any given time?
- Only one project. It must be fully stitched and finished before moving on.
- One big stitch and one or two smaller stitches to break up the monotony.
- You've got several stitches going on at once, but already feel guilty and refuse to start another until you've finished at least one current project.
- You've lost count entirely, and have several that are likely to never be finished.
When looking for patterns online, what do you search for?
- You only buy designs from major well known designers.
- You only buy patterns from trusted designers who have tested all their designs for color accuracy.
- You'll take a risk on new designers, but will search the web for the subject of the pattern to make sure the original image wasn't stolen.
- It doesn't matter where the pattern comes from, as long as it's pretty.
- You make you own patterns out of whatever strikes your fancy.
- You mostly just search for free patterns online, even if they might be stolen or infringing copyrights.
When stitching from a pattern, do you...
- Use only the colors called for in the pattern, even if it means another trip to the craft store.
- Use the colors that you have on hand and color match the rest.
- Stitch as best you can from whatever colors you have on hand. Use different brands or completely change hues if needed.
How organized is your thread stash?
- Meticulously organized. I have a spreadsheet keeping track of my inventory and I know exactly where to find any color I need.
- Mostly organized, but not everything has been bobbined and some things are kitted separately and I might need to check a few places for a color before purchasing a new skein
- I end up purchasing duplicates of skeins because I couldn't find them when I was looking for them. Thread is scattered across the house in various locations.
What best describes your interactions with other stitchers?
- You encourage others to stitch whatever they feel like, replace colors as needed, and do unique things with their finishes.
- You like to encourage others to finish the stitches they're working on, even if they're a little burned out, have hit a frustrating frog, or need to pick up more of a color.
- You like to encourage others to start new stitches, even if they've already got a pile of WIPs. If needed, you'll link them directly to patterns you know they'll love.
How quickly do you finish your stitches?
- You like to take your time on stitches and enjoy the journey. You want to make sure you don't make any mistakes.
- You just kinda stitch when you feel like it, while watching TV or listening to an audiobook. You're not really worried about when something gets finished.
- You stitch pretty quickly and people are often astonished at how quickly you get through a pattern, even though you're more likely to make mistakes along the way.
Do you grid your projects in advance?
- You can't start a project until your project is fully gridded.
- You don't grid your projects, but you count and recount while stitching to avoid mistakes.
- You don't grid, but you do go back and fix mistakes if things don't line up right.
- You just stitch and work around any mistakes you have, making it your own unique design.
- You'll grid a bit of the area in which you start in advance, but otherwise just grid as you need to.
What do you use to hold your stitch as your work?
- You have a fancy floor stand that keeps tension and holds it for me so you can stitch quickly.
- You prefer to stitchin in-hand, without any sort of frame.
- You use a Hoop or Qsnap to keep tension in your stitching.
- You're not too picky. If you have a hoop or qsnap nearby you might use it, but it's not a big deal if you have to stitch in hand.
Where do you keep your needles while you stitch?
- You have one or more needleminders, to make sure my needles don't get lost.
- You have a cute pincushion you stab it into when not using it.
- You stab it into the nearest available object. Couch arms, pillows, your own leg, someone else's leg, whatever.
How much extra fabric do you like to leave around your projects?
- 1 inch or less around the stitched area. You'll wing it when it comes to finishing.
- You leave a modest 2-inch border, just in case. You can always add a mat if the frame is too big.
- You like to leave at least a 3-inch or larger border to make sure no matter what finishing technique you decide on, you'll have room to work with.
Do you always cross your stitches the same way?
- Every stitch you make, no matter the project, is always done facing the same way.
- Sometimes the \ is on top, and sometimes it's the /. But every stitch on a single project faces the same way.
- It's all kind of random when you stitch, depending on where the last stitch ended or how you feel. As long as they're Xs in the end it doesn't matter.
How often do you end up working with specialty threads? (Metallics, Silks, Glow)
- You avoid specialty threads, replacing with a standard cotton when needed.
- You love adding specialty threads to my project even if not part of the original pattern. That metallic shine, silky shimmer, or glow in the dark thread really makes your projects pop!
- You'll add specialty threads when a pattern calls for it, but won't go out of your way for it.
Do you like stitching patterns with lots of specialty stitches? (Backstitch, French knots, Quarter stitches)
- Specialty stitches add so much detail to a pattern, you tend to favor designs that use them well.
- You don't mind them, but don't think they're necessary for a pattern to be good.
- You want nothing to do with specialty stitches, patterns should be just full crosses.
- You're ok with some specialty stitches but avoid french knots or replace them with beads.
Do you keep a stash of cross stitch fabrics?
- You have a huge pile of various counts and colors of fabrics just in case you find the perfect pattern for them.
- You just buy fabric as needed, or rely on kits to provide the fabric.
- You keep some extra of your favorite fabric count on hand just so you don't have to run to the store to start a new design.
How many patterns do you own that you have yet to start?
- You couldn't possibly count how many patterns you've bought/designed. And you've another wishlist full.
- You try to only buy/design patterns as you go. You clean up your wishlist as your tastes change over time.
- You've got several patterns ready to pick from once you've finished your current projects. Everything else sits in your wishlist until you're ready to start.
How many unfinished projects do you have that you have no plans to finish?
- You don't have any UFOs or you've given them away/gotten rid of them. Just down to your current WIP rotation.
- You've got several projects you started years ago but either need frogging or you simply don't like the design anymore.
- You've just got one or two projects you started as a gift but fell out of favor with the giftee.
Do you only stitch on a specific count fabric, or do you try and mix things up?
- Theres 2 or 3 types of fabrics you really favor and stick to those except for special occasions.
- You have a preferred fabric count and you have no plans of branching out unless absolutely necessary.
- You like to try all sorts of different fabrics, and pick fabrics based on your finishing plans and pattern styles.
