Shattered Lives (Prologue)

Hey guys it's me Comet and you might know me from my other series, The Unforgiven and Unforgotten. I've been working on this story for a few days now and decided that I wanted to bring it here to Gotoquiz. I hope you enjoy this series and comment as always.

Man I hate writing these two paragraphs, it annoys me. Ahh what left to say, well I guess that I have a really good feeling about this series and trust me it will be different from my other series.

  1. "How can you see into my eyes like open doors. Leading you down into my core, where I've become so numb, without a soul. My spirit sleeping somewhere cold, until you find it there and lead. It back.....home."
  2. The soothing lyrics rolled off my tongue like a flowing river as I sang along to the radio. I could feel it as the music began to course through my veins, raising my hands up into the air I broke loose as the music peaked. "(Wake me up) Wake me up inside (I can't wake up) Wake me up inside (Save me) Call my name and save me from the dark (Wake me up) Bid my blood to run (I can't wake up) Before I come undone (Save me)Save me from the nothing I've become."
  3. "Ah don't worry Kierra; I'll always save you even if you become a nothing." I shoved the teenager beside me playfully and shook my head. "Such a lovely boyfriend you are, aren't you Devin." I placed my arms down and settled my elbow onto the armrest. My attention was drawn towards the window as the scenery went past us as a blur.
  4. "You know it." Devin grinned. "Although-." "Shh, this is my favorite part." I hushed him and rushed into the song. "You're such a girl sometimes." He muttered. "Frozen inside without your touch without your love darling. Only you are the life among the dead." Another voice cutted in and I notified it as Devin, I shot him a smile and we each sang separate parts.
  5. "All this time I can't believe I couldn't see. Kept in the dark but you were there in front of me. I've been sleeping a thousand years it seems, got to open my eyes to everything. Without a thought without a voice without a soul. Don't let me die here, there must be something more. Bring me to life (Wake me up) Wake me up inside (I can't wake up) Wake me up inside (Save me) Call my name and save me from the dark (Wake me up) Bid my blood to run (I can't wake up) Before I come undone (Save me) Save me from the nothing I've become (Bring me to life) I've been living a lie, there's nothing inside (Bring me to life)"
  6. The song came to a close and Devin swallowed as in a way to attempt to catch his breath. I arched a brow towards him. "Seriously Devin you can not hang." "Well excuse me for not having the lungs of an opera singer unlike someone here." I cracked a mocking smile and placed my hand over my heart. "Oh my god did I just hear a compliment come out of Devin Velaz's mouth? It's a miracle thank the heavens!"
  7. Devin chuckled and waved his hand."Yeah yeah don't go flattering yourself." "Well I can have a moment of loathing can't I?" I teased and nudged him with my elbow. I never knew why but Devin and I would always constantly have these games where we tease each other, this would go on for days until the other managed to get the person in a headlock and give them a nugie. Let me tell you one thing. It is absolutely, positively, most definitely the hardest thing to get this boy into a headlock. He's 6'3 and I'm 5'10 for crying out loud!
  8. "Hmmmm..................no." Devin responded and turned his entire body forward with one hand on the steering wheel and the other on the gear shift. Though he seemed far away, his eyes contemplate and his brow furrowed. By the look, I knew that he was thinking deeply about something, but I couldn't decipher what. A soft sigh escaped my lips, deciding to give up I slunk back in my seat and my gaze fell out towards the window. Streetlights illuminated bright spots on the floors of the dark pavement, sheds of the light casting off shadows from the trees in their radius.
  9. I inhaled a shuddered breath as the temperature suddenly dropped. I furrowed my brow in confusion, considering the fact that Devin has the heat on it just made things more odd. I glanced at Devin at the corner of my eye to see if it had any affect on him. Doubtfully it appeared it didn't since he still had the same expression.
  10. My skin began to tingle feeling the sensation and my stomach began to stir with the uneasiness clearly in the air. I groaned and brought my hands to my forehead, massing my temples. Why was I feeling like this? Devin isn't affected so then why do I feel like this?
  11. "We're sorry."
  12. I jolted up in my seat, startled by the words but more from the icy breath that wavered on my neck. I touched my neck on the cold spot and shuddered. I could feel the heat on the surface of it but it wasn't my body heat. It felt like electricity was coursing through that one spot.
  13. There was something else, a strong pulsing feeling there. Power. I could feel it lingering off from it.
  14. "You alright there Kie?" I snapped out of my trance once I heard his voice. I bit my lip and nodded even though deep inside I knew something was completely off, and those whispers just heightened that feeling. "Yeah I'm fine." I said and looked at Devin.
  15. He turned to me and I held in a breath. His eyes, they were dark like a never ending void. Emotions were locked up in them. Longing, sorrow, rage, and something else. I know it's there but it was like he was forcing it back. Not wanting it to be revealed.
  16. "You sure?" Devin asked, skeptical. "Yes I'm sure." I said slowly to him. I ran my hand over my face in exhaustion. "I'm probably just ti- Devin look out!"
  17. There was no time to react, it was too late. Another car hit Devin's side with tremendous impact and sent the car flying. I cringed as metal was shredded away like paper, glass danced in my vision like diamonds. Pain jolted into my side for a minute before darkness engulfed my vision.
  18. "Forgive us."
  19. My eyes snapped open but everything was blurry. Sirens cried out in the night but they were too far away, the sounds very faint. My vision slowly began to clear but only barely, I could make out that our car was upside down.
  20. I groaned and tried to move but my limbs refused of any mobility. The car suddenly rocked back and fro and the top somewhat caved in. Something was on top. The car moved more violently as whatever was on it jumped off.
  21. A low growl came to my ears, it's husky breaths close to me. I closed my eyes as the thing drew closer until I could feel heat lingering off from something and transferring to me. My pulse began to race but my eyes refused to open no matter how hard I tried to open them. Another growl erupted but this time it was soft, almost calming.
  22. My senses began to die down as I could feel my body drifting in to unconsciousness; I tried to fight it wanting to find out who this is. My skin tingled when I felt a smooth texture lift me up gently. My limping hand brushed against it to result in feeling fur.
  23. Fur?
  24. My mind began to race with conclusions to what could it be, not even knowing that I was set down on the ground. I opened my eyes to meet with rainbow colored eyes. The colors swirled in it's eyes yet they held a mysterious and dangerous aura around them. The eyes locked with mine and stayed like that, without blinking. I stared at them, awed at them.
  25. I wanted to reach my hand out and hold whoever was behind those eyes. The sound of sirens coming closer forced us out of the trance and look to the direction they were coming from. A low rumble sound emitted from the holder of those eyes and then they took off. I watched as it disappeared into the night, but before it fully disappeared into the shadows I caught a glimpse of gold.
  26. The sirens ringed into my ears as the paramedics arrived and lifted me off the ground, that was until then I looked back towards the car Tears formed at the corner of my ears as they performed CPR on Devin. After minutes that seemed like hours the paramedic shook his head and they slipped a sheet over his head.
  27. "Death as it comes seeps into our hearts, yet we refuse to acknowledge it until it arrives at our doorstep. Love drives us at our limits but brings worse pain than any other."
  28. Those words were whispered off my tongue as the paramedics drove me off. It was all true, death is always here but we refuse to believe it and love drives us insane, but when you combine these two together. No pain can ever compare.
  29. And nothing can ever take it away...
