    No, you can't use a comma, however you CAN use a period and the keyword here is M U S T.

    Because in the 'incorecct' statement "When she asked for an extension on the assignment" is introductory element, a comma could be placed to say the teacher agreed. It would be less choppy than the 'correct' statement. The correct one is choppy.
