Kori giggled softly as she played the game, doing her best to keep up with the tiles as they rolled onto screen. "Gosh, I'm a little rusty," she said with a chuckle mid-game, fumbling on a few notes.
-
"It's okay!" Oliver chuckled. He kept hitting the corresponding buttons from the tiles that dropped toward the bottom of the screen. Soon the song ended, and Oliver hung up the guitar on its stand. He looked over and Kori and smiled softly. "That was fun!" He looked over toward Cyril, who looked off in the distance.
"What about another game? We could always shoot baskets." Oliver said, throwing out the idea to Cyril and Kori. -
"Yeah, good game~" Kori Jane said with a smile, looking at Oliver after setting down her guitar. She looked over at Cyril then back at Oliver when he spoke again, nodding. "Sure, that sounds fun," she replied with a grin, nodding.
-
Oliver and Cyril both walked over toward the basketball hoop game. It seemed simple enough. Score enough baskets by the time the buzzer goes off and you'll win 500 tickets. It did seem like there was a catch though. If you wanted the Grand Prize number of tickets, you would have to beat the latest high score that was on the game. It looked like the Grand Prize amount of tickets was only 1,000 so even if all of them played and didn't get the grand prize they would come out with 1,500 tickets.
"Alright." Cyril said grinning. "Hopefully something I'm good at." He swiped his card and waited for the basketballs to come down the chute. Once they did, he started tossing them toward the hoop. Cyril seemed like a pro at this. Once his timer ran out, his tickets dispensed. Even though he didn't get the high score, at least he got some tickets. He turned around for a moment, tickets held above his head like a victor. "Your turn Kori." He said, putting his tickets in his plastic bag. -
Kori smiled and nodded, walking up to the game. She swiped her card and started tossing the balls, some of them getting in the hoop and some of them missing. She finished up and checked her score, satisfied as she grabbed her tickets. "Pretty good, if I do say so myself~"
-
"Not bad." Oliver and Cyril said in unison. For a moment, Cyril shot Oliver a look. Oliver stepped up the arcade machine and swiped his card. "Guess it's my turn." He said, grabbing the first basketball as it came out of the chute. He took his first shot, and it bounced off the rim. His shoulders sagged for a moment, before he grabbed the next basketball. "You've got this." He muttered to himself. He took a deep breath and aimed the second shot, this time making it through the hoop. He did a little fist pump, then finished each of his shots. Like Kori, he made some and then he didn't; but he was okay with that. He watched as his tickets dispensed and then put them in his bag.
(Would you like to time-skip to them getting the prizes then leaving?) -
(sure, yeah u^u)
"Hmm- I'm not sure what to get with my tickets," Kori Jane spoke as she looked over at Oliver and Cyril, looking back at the counter with all the prizes. "There's so many cool things I could get~" -
Oliver looked at Kori and Cyril and handed over his ticket slip that had his amount on it to the ticket attendant. "Add my tickets to hers." He said, as the ticket attendant scanned the barcode on the bottom and the amount went up. Cyril walked up the ticket attendant and handed over his slip as well. "Mine too." Cyril said, smiling slightly. "Just means we can get a better prize." Oliver and Cyril looked at the prize wall, scanning to see what the best items to would be to get for Kori. Oliver looked at the ticket amount they had and smiled. It looked like the total amount of tickets they had was 1,567,932.
That was the most Oliver had seen. He looked at the wall and saw a huge plush panda bear. He looked at Kori and pointed up to it. "What about that?" He asked, wondering if Kori would like it.
"Or..." Cyril started. "We can go for a game system. I don't know if you play games, but we could get you a new console. Those are at the top, and it looks like we have just enough tickets to get one!" -
"Aw, the panda's so cute~" Kori Jane said with a smile as she looked to where Oliver was pointing, grinning happily. "I love pandas, they're one of my favorite animals-" She looked over at the game system Cyril pointed at, gasping softly. "Wait, that'd be so cool to get, too-" She said, chuckling softly. "Ugh, it's so hard to choose," she added, giggling awkwardly. She was always terrible as decision making, and it was even harder when two people made different suggestions, she hated the idea of disappointing someone.
-
Oliver looked at Kori Jane for a moment, then looked back at the Panda Bear plushie. "If you would prefer the game system, you can get it." He said, looking at her with a slight smile. He already knew what Cyril was going to say if he tried to get her to get the plush panda, but that wouldn't stop him from having one delivered to her in the future. Cyril looked at Oliver and nodded. "Come on, it would give us more time to spend with each other when we can't hang out!" Cyril said, smiling excitedly. Before Cyril could say another word, his phone started buzzing in it his pocket. He picked it up and saw it was his father. Cyril gritted his teeth for a moment and excused himself from Oliver and Kori. "I'm sorry, I have to take this call." He said, albeit a bit gruffly.
-
"I guess we should get the game system, then- then we could all use it-" Kori Jane said with a small smile, glancing over at Oliver. "And maybe next time we come I could get the panda~" She added with a grin, giggling softly as she grabbed the tickets and used them to get the game system for her and the two boys.
-
Oliver nodded. Kori was right after all. They all could use the game system. He already had one at home, so he was set. It would be nice for all of them to sit down and play something together on days they couldn't actually hang out. "Sounds like a plan to me." He stated with a gentle smile.
Cyril walked out of the arcade and stood at the entrance. Before he could get a word out, he could hear his father on the other end of the line. "DO. NOT. EVER. IGNORE. MY. CALLS." His father stated with such a ferocity Cyril visibly shrunk where he was standing. "Now." Cyril's father cleared his throat. "Have you gathered ANY information on Kori's father, or any future plans?" Cyril stood there for a moment, his palms getting sweaty from nervousness. "N-no." He sputtered out weakly. The silence on the phone call was all Cyril needed to hear, before the phone disconnected. He was going to be in for it when he got home, that was for sure.
Cyril made his way back inside and joined Oliver and Kori.
