‘I don’t ghost you because I hate you. Unless you do something bad like kill my family. Please don’t be sad,’ Maeve mumbled.

"Why do you ghost me?" Lavender asked quietly, shuffling closer to her.

Maeve didn’t answer for a long time. She held onto her tighter. ‘I don’t know,’ she finally mumbled.

Lavender frowned, holding her closer. "Are you sure?"

Maeve was silent for another few moments. ‘I get scared,’ she mumbled.

"Scared about what?" Lavender frowned. Am I scary?

Maeve didn’t reply for a while. ‘That you’d be mad at me. Like your brother was.’

"Mad about what? Being a 'bad influence?'" Lavender shuffled closer. "Dylan's always mad. Don't worry about him." It was half true, at least.

Maeve didn’t look at her. ‘You deserve better,’ she mumbled, fidgeting with her hands.

Lavender shook her head, holding her hands.
