‘You okay? I can try and beat them up-‘

Lavender pulled away at that. "No, no don't beat them up, please." The last thing she wanted was a fight. Fights meant even more trouble and possible pushback from the boys.

Maeve shuffled back close, grabbing her hands. ‘Okay, fine, I won’t. But Lavender, it’s not okay.’

Lavender looked down at their hands. She didn't say anything.

‘Lav? What else have they said to you?’

Lavender shook her head. "Nothing." She mumbled, playing with Maeve's hands gently.

‘Please tell me. You can be honest with me, Lav.’

"Maeve, you don't have to worry about me." Lavender looked up at her. "It's fine. I got used to it after a bit." She realized that made it sound worse, and huffed before turning away, angry at herself.

‘That’s not a good thing!’ Maeve wrapped her arms around her, resting her head on her back since she was turned away. ‘It’s my job to worry about you.’

"But you shouldn't have to worry about me all the time! I shouldn't be making you comfort me all the damn time."

‘But it’s my job! As your girlfriend, I comfort you, and you comfort me!’

"I barely ever have to comfort you!" Lavender argued. "It's not fair to you, you don't deserve to deal with this all the time!"

‘I care about you, Lav! I want to help!’

Lavender buried her head in her hands. "What do you even see in me?" She mumbled weakly, not even sure whether she said it or if her head was just screaming it loudly.

Maeve frowned. She cupped her face and gently tilted it upwards again. She pressed her forehead against Lavender’s. ‘You’re pretty, and kind.’
