Harper got out of the pit and looked down at the girl, unsure of if she would be able to get out on her own or not. It was deeper than previously anticipated. He had only thought it was a hole, not a pit.
So that was it. The stranger was looking down on her both physically and metaphorically. She clambered out of the pit with the aid of a tree root and looked at him. "Well, if you need a place to stay for tonight, I have a little room." The robot in her pocket whirred and crawled onto her shoulder.
Harper stared at the robot for a second. Little machines crawling out of her pockets? He'd never seen anything like that happen before. He looked back at the girl and nodded. He didn't know where to go now that he escaped.
