    Pebblepaw pounced onto Ripplepaw and the two wrestled fiercely until a ginger and white she-cat got to her paws.

    "I'm trying to sleep," she said crankily.

    "Aw, lighten up, Gingerpaw!" Pebblepaw said brightly. "Why sleep when you could play with us?"

    "Because my mentor will kill me," Gingerpaw said. "Try having your mom as your mentor. It's the worst."

    The kit woke up, tears streaming down his poor little face. Trembling, it turned to look at Echolight.

    Suddenly, breath shot through her, She tensed as she awoke in te real world, before looking down to see a helpless kit. "Aww, what's wrong?" She comfortingly nudged its shoulder.

    He wailed at her, his tiny little eyes filling up with tears. He curled up against her, holding her arm with his two tiny paws.

    Royalheart watched as the sun began to rise. Swiftfoot had fallen asleep against him, breathing deeply.

    The kit purred, kneading her with his paws.

    Royalheart gently shook Swiftfoot awake. She got to her paws drowsily. "Huh?" she said, confused.

    "You fell asleep," Royalheart said with a purr of amusement.

    The kit buried himself in her fur, happy and warm.

    Was it possible to quit a rank, and go to a new one? She loved being a Medicine Cat, but the kit... Maybe it was possible to find a nursing queen who would take him in?

    "I guess I did," Swiftfoot said, before stretching. "How does it feel being a warrior?"

    "Excellent," Royalheart said brightly. "Do you want to go hunting with me?"

    "Sure!" Swiftfoot said. "I could use a good piece of prey."
