"my dad got drunk and angry, he stabbed my mom, then he died from alcohol poisoning." Norman said

"That's awful!" Adria said. "I'm glad you weren't there, you could have died too."

"Yeah, but what am I supposed to do now?" Norman asked

"You could stay with me and my grandmother," Adria suggested.

"that's if your grandmother doesn't mind." Norman said.

"Of course she won't mind!" Adria said. "She's heard a lot about you anyhow."

"okay then." Norman said with guilt and embarrassment in his voice

"You don't have to look so flustered," Adria said, hugging him. "Just see it as you doing me a favor. Gran always ups her cooking game when there's someone else in the house."

"yeah but, I feel guilty staying in someone else's house, but I can't stay in my house, it's too much." Norman said

At that moment, Adria's grandmother hobbled out. The elderly woman smiled at the two, waving for them to come in.

Norman walked behind Adria, to be polite.

Adria's grandmother patted Norman's shoulder. "You must be Norman."

"yes ma'am." Norman said, he felt uncomfortable speaking informally to old people he technically didn't know

"I've heard a lot about you," she said, her eyes twinkling. "Won't you stay with us?"
Adria was surprised that her grandmother knew about Norman's parents already. -
"I don't have anywhere else to go." Norman said.
