Who?
What?
When?
Why?
Or How?
Pick one of them.
EX: my answer would be Why? As in why it happened. -
Mine would be "what." It encompasses almost everything, really.
What's happening? What understanding do I need to have of this situation before I can proceed? -
"What?" Because that's just my normal response to anything that I don't know. Like "What don't I know?" or "What's going on?" are the first thoughts. Then it usually goes into how when I'm mystified about the events that led to it.

Mcr broke up- why?
Mcr got back together- When?
Mila Kunis is in my city- Who?
People made food printable- How? -
I'd like to ask What but I always ask When lol

I would like to know how it happened -
WHAT
I always say what. -
How?
Because if you say "how did this happen?" I think you would most likely get an explanation from the very beginning of the story leading up to the present. -
"What?" as in, "What just happened?" or "What's happening!?" if it's a really crazy situation.
