  Dark Pit is a "dark" version of Pit that appeared after Pit destroyed the... Uh.. Mirror in Kid Icarus: Uprising. If he appeared before that game, then I don't know.

  I don't like Rosalina very much.
  
  Dark Pit is Pit's mirror opposite. In the game Kid Icarus: Uprising, there literally was a mirror that created an evil double of Pit when he destroyed it. Thus you get Dark Pit.
