My name is Argel Tal. The right hand and most trusted soldier under our father, Lorgar. 10,000 soldiers fashioned in his image to serve under him as we spread unification across the galaxy. Our methods were questionable but they got results. While the other legions demanded loyalty and regularly had to return to their claimed worlds to pacify rebellion, we preached our Imperium as a religion, and left only zealous and fervent followers. The Emperor did not see the benefits of this practice.
To demonstrate his displeasure with us, he ordered his son to destroy the city he had built his religious ideologies on. The perfect city. We were given a chance to get people out, but we knew it wouldn't be enough time. When the bombs struck, riots ensued. I was part of the unit sent to pacify any violence that would inevitably arise. Thousands died that day. Some from the bombs. But most from us. This was a lesson our Emperor wanted to be sure we would never forget.
After the riots were stopped, I was sent with some men to find those who were wounded and put them out of their misery. People trampled to near death or crazed by a bullet and left to die. It was the least we could do for them after the horrors we were forced to make them bear witness to.
That's when I found her. A young woman, trampled, blinded, and slipping in and out of consciousness. In this single innocent and broken soul I saw the spirit of the entire city. And as I stood there about to put her out of her misery, I found myself weighted down with the regret and shame of what I had done to these people. This girl was all of my shame in a single being.
I had her on our ship and in the medical bay before I had time to question myself.

is there romance in this story? it's weird cause I've never really liked it before, but then I started to have a crush and that's like all I ever wnat to read now.
what is this based off of?
and your writing is wonderful! -
I awoke to the icy cold of a metal table. I noticed the ache across my whole body from the horrible events of the riots and panicked mobs. I noticed the bruises and sharp spikes of pain from the needles feeding me liquids through my arms and hands. I noticed the muffled footsteps and voices from doctors talking in the next room. But what I noticed most was the darkness.
I heard a doctor arrive and gasp before coming to be calling to his nurse to get "Argel". They explained to me what all had happened. How it had been 3 days since the city was destroyed. How I was pulled from the wreckage surrounded by death. How I would almost fully recover from the incident. How the only thing I wouldn't regain was my sight. How my saviors name was Argel Tal.
Then I heard the heavy footsteps. And though I couldn't see him, I knew I was in the presence of my savior. He stood there for what seemed like an eternity. He didn't speak. I asked him to come closer so I could see him with my hands. He came and stood by my bed and I touched his face. He had broad features and seemed large. From how high up his head was I guessed he was around 6 ft tall. And when he finally spoke his voice was deep and resonated. He spoke only of thanks that I was alright.
The doctor then said I needed to rest and for Argel to leave me to that. That's when this man that I thought to be 6 ft tall, stood up. And I realized I was in the presence of a giant. Fashioned in the image of our Angel Lorgar, he too was above man. -
(In the story, these two don't really have a love affair. All space Marine's are asexual. But they are still very close. The love story I'm hinting at is where the "fanfiction" idea is coming in to play. And these two are in a couple of books from the Horus Heresy novels. Look for ones centered around the Word Bearer's legion. That's where you'll find Argel tal and Cyrene)

*claps*
wonderful. -
The first time I saw her she was broken and bleeding. Scarred by our mistakes. Made to suffer as our punishment. The next time I saw her, she looked at me with clear eyes. She touched me and saw me as a person. Not as a soldier. Not as an Angel. And not as the reason she was blind. Her soft touch and her gentle eyes told me all I needed to know. That she forgave us for what we did.
I spent many hours in that medical bay. When the doctor was helping her learn to find her way around blind, I was there. When she was learning to read braille, I was there.
Story spread like wild fire of the blessed lady who saw the perfect city burn and lived. Of the innocent girl who had survived the blast and was now among us. Even our father Lorgar came to see her. And even unable to see him, she knew who he was.
As time went on she came to understand what we did. We were soldiers. During war times she would stay in her room and listen to the steady booms of cannons on our ship and the bustle of crew members running up and down the hallways. Between fights she would mostly stay with me. We would take walks down the halls and I would tell stories of great wars and wondrous places I had seen. She would tell stories of growing up on the outskirts of the city. And yet her stories always seemed infinitely more fascinating than mine. -

Argel Tal and I take walks a lot. I love to listen to the bustle of the ship and the conversations the workers have. It's funny, they see that I'm blind and yet they think I can't hear them speaking. They are never cruel though.
Argel promises me that the next time we reach a safe world, that he'll take me to the surface so we can go to the market together. I have to admit, that the constant sound of the engines and the metal floors and walls do make it hard to forget you're in a ship.
The other day, we were walking through the hanger bays and Argel asked me if I blamed them for my eyes. "I miss them sometimes." I said. "Yet without them I see things in a way I never saw them before. I see people rather than faces. Ideas rather than words. I see you, and I do not hate you for giving me the chance to do so." He was silent the rest of our walk.
As he walked me back to my room, Argel Tal confessed to me that he asked because he blamed himself. He knew that on every world they took that there were countless others like me he couldn't save and wars that were unneeded were ending in innocent blood being spilled on his hands.
And in the privacy of my cabin, a giant wept.
He has pulled my from those ruins and brought me back from certain death. He stayed with me when my home was no more gave me room in his. Yet every day I realize that it was I who saved him.
My knight. My Hero. My Argel Tal.

there are probably some stalkers
that's awesome. -
Warhammer 40k is practically based around 80's over the top violence. And while everything they do is lathered in that, the stories themselves have some of the most dynamic and intricate plots I have ever seen. With so many in depth characters it's amazing. They've won awards for having the most in depth plot in fiction, EVER.
-
really? do they have it at Barns in Nobel or is it only on Amazon or something?
well I was gonna stay up all night, I might just say f--- that -
It's in B&N. That's where I get my books from. Usually there's an entire shelf dedicated to it. You'll find them around the same place as the Star Wars novels.
