Everyone deals with distressing situations differently. Some people need to get away to blow off steam. I wouldn't recommend turning your anger in on yourself. I have a habit of it and it is not healthy.

Heph left I assume because she was upset and scared. She does that even in real life, if she's confronted she starts crying and runs. She can't help it, she doesn't like angering others and when they're angry she just breaks down. She'll be back, I promise you. She's not cruel enough to leave you alone for very long.
