"I... um... uh..." I couldn't think straight.

I cut off a piece of cake and offer it to you, "Cake?"

"Uh, sure..." I took the cake. I didn't see how he could say something like that and then offer me cake, as if he did it every day.

"Probaly caught you a little off guard, didnt I?" I ask quietly.

I nodded, looking at him.

"Sorry," I whisper, "its just,when you live under the threat of death daily, you realize whats really important."

I smiled, and set down the cake. I hugged him tightly.

I hug you back, keeping my peace for the moment.

I looked him in the eyes. "I-I don't want to lose you." He was really all I had left. My family was dead, my country was almost completely destroyed, and I didn't want to think about what probably happened to the caretakers of the palace- my only friends for most of my life.

"You wont," I say quietly. "And I dont want to lose you."

I didn't know how he could be sure about that, but I believed him.

I dont know really what to say next... Ive played my hand.
