Beautiful Lies Part 13

Announcements: 2 parts in one day in account for making Part 12 kind of really short. And um, Beautiful Lies is almost over, I think. So we'll be moving in to Beautiful Endings!

But Beautiful Endings is the last installment in this sort of trilogy, so it's kind of sad too. And should I remake Meet Me Halfway after this series, or make a new series, and finish Meet Me Halfway after that series?

  1. We buried her outside, Snow White style. Without the glass case of course. We lay her down among the wild flowers as Gritzo said a spell to keep any Inferiors away. We stood around her in a circle, saying silent prayers. "What happened?" I asked Ash quietly after I heard the terrible news. "She killed herself. Said she couldn't do it and drew a knife through herself with her telekinesis." I couldn't imagine April doing that to herself. I could still hear her laugh that spread joy to everybody. "And may her beautiful soul rest in peace," Gritzo finished. Gumbo lead the chorus of "Amen's" and we all went back to Gritzo's as a sign of respect.
  2. Death is different in the Core. You know how usually when somebody dies everybody attends a funeral, dresses in black, says a few words, and cries? That doesn't happen. When somebody dies here, you place their body out in the open—no cleaning, no dress change; just who they were on their final breath of oxygen. Burying a body is a sign of disrespect. It means you don't want their presence around anymore. Also, nobody cries. I don't exactly know why or who made up that rule, but they say it distracts the soul from departing the body by making it harder for them to let go. And nobody is aloud to stay around and mourn because if you really wanted the soul to rest in peace, they you should let them rest in peace and let their soul leave the body to the other world in serenity.
  3. So that's what we did. We went back into the hole underground hidden in the bushes to Gritzo's, going about like nothing even happened. "I suppose we should leave now, then?" Gritzo asked edgily. "I thought you weren't aloud to leave the Banished Provinces," I said. "And that's why I'm not. We're setting out for a banished goblin society within these lands." "Why is he going?" Gumbo asked. "______ made a bargain. A baby for a potion," Ash stated. I shot him a look but then turned to Gritzo. "You knew April wouldn't make it, didn't you?" The goblin squinted his eyes and tapped his long fingernails on the counter of the table one by one. "Truffle poison is rather hard to cure. The girl lasted more than I thought, but eventually I knew she would pass. That is why I agreed to your bargain." He hopped down from the counter and started towards a door. "I'm going to get my things. We'll head out in 10 minutes."
  4. "A baby for a potion?" Alex asked as we were back in my room. "Nostalgia," I said specifically. "Why do you need that" I turned to restock my bag with the supplies the brownies gave me and flinched. "I'm going to use it on Oath, if I get the chance." I lied again. Ugh, and I told myself I was going to stop doing that. "I don't want to talk about it," I added before he could press on. "Alright. Then what do you want to talk about, princess?" I zipped my bag up and sighed. "Well, it would be nice to talk about how horribly saddened I am about April's death, but it would be considered disrespectful, so." Alex came up from behind and put his arms around me. "She fought hard," he whispered into my ear. I forced my tears to stay within my eyes. "Bloody hell. We have a death and you two are already fondling with each other? Let's go, loves. We have a new mission to accomplish."
  5. Alex dropped his arms back to his sides as we both turned around to Gumbo. "He was comforting me," I remarked, annoyed. Gumbo rolled his eyes. "Maybe a little too much." He started walking down the hallway, but I could still hear his voice as he called out, "Quickly, now. We don't want to waste any time. Bloody humans." Alex gave me the faintest of smiles. "Let's go." I interlocked my hand with his as we all met up in the living room. But April was always on my mind. Without her Alex and I would probably still be avoiding each other had she not talked to him. Without her, I wouldn't have known truly where my parents whereabouts was. Her dad. What happens when we rescue him and he finds out his daughter was dead?
  6. "Got everything?" Gritzo asked. "Indeed. Now let's go. We've wasted precious time in this fungus hole," Gumbo commented. We followed Gritzo back to the exit of the hole. Ash trailed behind the whole time. I climbed the ladder upwards until my eyes were hit with rays of sunlight. Alex helped me out and I shielded my eyes from the gas star. Ash was the last one out. We all stood still for awhile, looking beyond our path, ready for whatever was coming our way. I glanced at Alex. He half smiled and gave me a tiny nod. Then we all started walking forward, back into the Provinces. Losing one, but gaining one.
  7. "Zac is human. What are you talking about?" Christofer asked. Oath put a forkful of beef in his mouth and chewed thoughtfully. "I suppose you will get to see later on. But for now, let's conversate about our dear _____." Christofer steadied his gaze, a silent yet deadly stare. Oath continued on. "As of right now, I don't know where she stands. A stubborn little girl, don't you think?" Christofer pursed his lips. "Stubborn, but smart. She'll never comply to you." Oath sneered. "Stubborn, smart, but loyal. Pitiful, actually, how much of a weakness love is. It's all but a distraction and an obstacle that all should learn to relinquish from their brain washed minds."
  8. "I'm not surprised you would say that," Christofer remarked. "But love is not a weakness. In the end, you'll see." Oath grinned slyly, his orange eyes gleaming off the fire. "In the end, I will prevail. And I'll make sure you all see that." He scooted his chair back and rose. "I no longer need you here. My guards will...assist you out. I'm going to send our lovely darling a message. I'll make sure to send your love." Oath turned around and started walking back from where he came from. He passed Christofer with a silent smile, his footsteps sounding like thunder claps every step. "Wait," Christofer said in a soft voice. Oath stopped but didn't turn. "Leave her out of this. Please." Oath's lips curled up into an evil mask. "But how can you possibly play the game when there is no game at all?" He continued on walking until Christofer heard the door shut.
  9. "Do you a reference for an animal?" Sarah was trudging along, Cole following behind. "Big with lots of blood," he deadpanned. "Obviously," Sarah muttered under her breath. "Why can't you catch it yourself?" Cole turned up beside her, so close she could hear his breaths. "But if I did it myself then I couldn't keep you company." He smirked. "Besides, you can see where they are. I can only smell blood." Sarah kept her eyes straight-forward. "Right." She closed her eyes, hoping that the sooner she finds the animal, the sooner he would leave her alone. "There's a big herd of animals by a water hole by a rock that looks like a head." Cole nodded and then steered his direction left. "I assume you know where this water hole is then?" Sarah asked, catching up to him. "I assume you you can trust me, right?"
  10. Auntie Lisa was in bed, reading a classic Shakespeare drama. A cup of tea was resting by her nightstand and her hair was tied up into a neat bun. Mozart's soft hum of music played in the background. She pulled the pant leg of her Egyptian cotton pajamas down since the covers of the bed was riding them up. That Mr. Woodbury was nice, she thought happily. The doorbell rung, so she got out of bed and opened it with a huge smile. "May I help you, Sam?" The faery stepped inside with a bland expression. "You seem different." Auntie Lisa twirled around in her pajamas. "How so?" Sam dialed into his cell phone and went back outside to place a call. When he was done, he closed the door, locked it, and led Auntie Lisa to the living room. "Do you know a Mr. Woodbury?" He asked. Lisa shook her head yes. "Quite a dear he is. He sold me this house., you know." Sam scratched his head and then just to make sure, turned on the radio. Fortunately, Adele was playing. Set Fire to the rain gradually played from beginning to end, and not a sound came out from Auntie Lisa. "She has a great voice," she said. Sam turned off the radio and started pacing back and forth. "Crap."
