  1. Ash, Gumbo, and I were running down the corridor, dead guards laying on the ground. "You guys did this?" I asked, impressed. Ash laughed. "Who else?" We kept on running, hoping to find the door when a blob of red started forming in front of us. We slowed our pace to a walk, unable to identify what it was. After seconds of intent staring, I finally got it. It was an army of cloakies, their hoods on their heads. We turned around to start going back, but then I skidded to a stop as a bunch of others started walking forward, trying to surround us. the other mob didn't have hoods on, however. They ranged from vampire to centaur. Then I understood. This was the army that Oath's been trying to recruit from the other Districts.
  2. All together it was 200 against 3 (if not counting Ash's other selves). I loaded an arrow. "You think we can take them?" I asked in a hushed tone. Gumbo barked a war cry. "We'll work with what we got." I counted down from three in my head. Go hard and die trying. We all took a step forward, good and bad, and stopped at the same time. Footsteps and shouts were heard, getting closer and closer as time passed by. Then, around the corridor, Sarah and another guy whom I didn't recognize (but was a definite cutie), came stampeding in with a mass of people charging behind them. Distraught for only a second, Oath's army forgot about us and started going for the reinforcements. And at that moment, folks"”all hell broke loose.
  3. "What do you mean my dad?" Alex asked, his expression hardening with the random subject of his father popping into the conversation. "You've never seen Oath, have you?" Then it occurred to Alex that it was true. He's never known what this guy Oath looked like in the first place. "How do you know he's my dad? I've never told you anything about him." Misty sighed. "Alex, that's why he let me in in the first place. And he has some of your features. Your jaw...your nose." Alex stood up again. "I don't believe you. I'll believe it when I see myself. And you don't even know the whole story." If Misty was hurt then it showed on her face, making Alex wince. "And who does know the whole story, if I may ask?" Alex was silent. "It's the girl, right? The reason why you're here in the first place? ______, if I should recall?" He nodded. "So then we're done?" Alex turned around. "We were done a long time ago when I thought you were dead."
  4. "But the point is that I'm here now! We can be together, and you can take me back, and we can act like everything's normal and"”" "I can't take you back." Misty stopped dead cold. "Nothing can be normal again between us, Mist. I'm sorry, but I've moved on to someone else." Suddenly a flare of anger flashed in her eyes. "What does she have that I don't have?" "It's not about comparing," Alex tried. "I love you, Misty. I really do, but it's just not the same kind of love that I have for ______." Misty moved closer, making Alex almost feel uncomfortable. The smell of sugar cookies wafted in the air, making his arms get goosebumps at the shock of nostalgia he was getting. She crawled her fingers up his arm, to his shoulder, and put her lips to his neck.
  5. Alex flinched the minute her lips touched his skin. He had a brief flashback of them back at home, holding hands and laughing. It was all so devastating to think about. "Misty," Alex protested, trying to get away. She whipped her head back, and started tearing up. "I looked for you," she said softly. "I tried everywhere, and now I finally found you and you don't want me back. why don't you want me back?!" She sat down in a heap on the floor and started sobbing. Alex didn't know what to do. She looked up at him, a look of insanity written in her eyes, her mouth turning into a snarl. "If I can't have you, then she can definitely not. We belong together!" She started getting up slowly, Alex backing away. He saw she was holding a sort of detonator in her hands, her thumb on a red button. "What is that?" He asked calmly. He tried using his power to get it out of her hands, but it caused no affect. "I'm sorry," she said. She pressed the button and suddenly Alex felt something sharp prick his neck. He started feeling dizzy, images of reality getting blurry. Misty's face was the last thing he saw before he fell to the ground unconscious.
  6. Christofer was running. He didn't exactly know where, but he was determined to check on ____ to see if what Michael said was true. But first he needed a weapon. He bent down at a couple of dead guards' bodies and searched their cloaks until he found what he was looking for: a sword and a harpoon gun. He tucked the sword in the belt loops of his jeans and continued his pace to the dungeons. From a distance he could hear shrieks and screams, which just made him go even faster. As he rounded the last corner, he couldn't believe his eyes. A bloody battle was happening, as if the war was meant to be taken place in the Underbelly. then he saw her. He sprinted in the middle of the fighting, but slowed down when he heard James' voice calling his name. "I need her!" he yelled. Christofer nodded, just as he slit the wrist of an opponent. He made his way to her, until they were fighting side by side. "James needs you," he said to her. The girl knocked out a centaur with an arrow. "I'm a little busy!" she called, ducking away from a sword as Christofer swiped the person who tried to attack her. "I'll take over, go!" She hesitated at first, but after another blow to a leprechaun, she nodded, giving Christofer a kiss on the cheek, and scurried away from the chaos until she was safely with James, out of harms way. Christofer looked around the battlefield, making contact with Ash. They both smiled, remembering all the times they fought together. "Let's kick some ass," Christofer muttered under his breath.
  7. "What?" I asked James, breathing heavily from all the fighting, my palm cut open with a minor slash. "Auntie Lisa told me about the serum. You know where it is?" I shook my head. "Why is it so important, can't it wait?" James put on an expression as if meaning to say that was an idiotic thing to say. "Oath is planning to use them on the humans. Does that explain enough for you?" I nodded, switching my quiver from my left to right shoulder. "It's the purple door. Go down the corridor, first left, then right," James pointed out. "Thanks!" I called out behind me as I started running. I got to the end of the all and then turned left. After that, I turned right and saw the purple door immediately. It was odd, however, that it was just out in the open like that. I opened the door, the room cloudy with cold smoke. I went down a few steps and saw a small bottle with a pink substance inside. It was on top of a podium, right in the middle of the all white room. "Beautiful, isn't it?" I flicked my eyes to the right and beyond the smoke saw a figure. He casually walked down the steps and smiled, his silver hair gleaming like pristine cement. Oath.
  8. I aimed my arrow at him, but then it flew away from my hands as if I threw it away on purpose. "Now, now," Oath said with amusement. "there'll be tons of time for that in the future. Why not just talk for now?" My heart started beating faster, my breath quickening. The smoke cleared a little bit more, and Oath seemed to look a little bit familiar as if I've seen him somewhere before. I didn't know what to say. Oath paced around the serum, making direct eye contact with me. I heard the door shut and lock. "So tell me, darling," he purred. "Why come for my serum?" I clenched my fists and took a deep breath. "I'm going to destroy it so that you can't make any more humans like that." Like Zac. Oath smiled mockingly. "Why don't you want that? Humans are weak and they vy for power; that's why their world is so corrupt these days. They're selfish. I'm doing them a favor. I'm making them stronger." I sneered. "Yeah, but you're putting them under your command." He nodded as if agreeing. "That is true, but I am the creator of what put them in that state in the first place' why let them roam freely?" I was hating how he was answering back with more questions. "Where's Alex?" It occurred to me that Alex and Christofer were supposed to be spying, but only Christofer came back. Oath grinned, as if expecting and waiting for me to ask that. "Oh he's safe and sound, don't worry. You and your friends will be seeing him soon."
  9. I didn't like that. "What have you done to him?" I asked through an almost closed mouth, my hands sweaty. I could hear the voice laughing in my head. 'If only you had let me in,' she said. Oath tilted his head, as if he heard it. "Zathara," he said with open arms. "I'm glad you brought her back." I furrowed my eyebrows. "Wha"”" then I fell back onto my knees, my eyes lolling back again like what happened with Bounty. Then it was pitch black. I couldn't see anything. I could only hear my thoughts. It was as if I was in a sort of dreaming state. And then I heard the voice. But it wasn't speaking to me. It was speaking to Oath. And it was using my tongue, my body, my mouth. It was controlling my vocal cords like a puppet master.
  10. I was lost in my own self.
