  1. I know what you're thinking. "Are you serious right?" Yeah, I'm as serious as serious can get. I could hear the exotic birds squawking out and about at the sight of new beings. I looked around at where we would be sheltering in and saw a big tent like structure. It was made of only palm tree leaves, straw, and tree bark. It didn't look like it was strong enough to with hold the amount of people that would be checking into it. "Where are we?" Asked Jacob. Wait, hold up. Jacob? Where did he get here?? I eyed him down and gave Jay a look. I remember telling him, Taylor, and Jerimiah about my little hunch and I'm not sure if they told the others. I hoped they did. And so my hopes were right as when Jacob said that Elijah tackled him to the ground. "Holy crap!" screamed Emma, who started clinging to Dakota's arm. I ran to the spot where Jacob was pinned to the dirty ground and looked down on him. "Get out." I demanded. "What?" Jacob said, looking at me like I was crazy. "Stop pretending John. We know, we all know!" Elijah got off of Jacob and he got up to his feet. Jacob started smiling in a creepy twisted way which resulted in him laughing hysterically. Jacob's eye balls rolled back and he started thrashing on the ground like a fish out of water. Soon or later the life like shadow figure of John Pearce was in front of us leaving Jacob's cold body there with no soul.
  2. My hunch was right. I bet Jacob was just minding his own business at home then this dark figure goes and possesses him. Poor kid. Jacob's body slowly evaporated into the air while John just kept laughing. "I did it...I did it....I DID IT!" He cried triumphantly. "....you did what?" Valentine asked him, holding onto Elijah's arm for dear life. "I got revenge. You'll see." And with that, John Pearce descended into the ground. What does he mean by revenge? Then my mind flashed back when we were in Miami. "We can follow you, you know." Those were his words that haunted me in the first few nights of sleep. We were in the same house that burned his family to death while his son, Andy, was still nowhere to be found. I looked around and horror struck my face. "Where's Matt?!" I cried out as I started running inside of the tent. The mini t.v that was propped on top of a table in the tent was fuzzing around with the white, grey, and black colors and that irritable sound. Everyone crowded around the television and the picture became clear. Instead of the usual Director Jenkins, was Matt. He was sitting in a chair with his wrists bound tied behind his back and his ankles locked in shackles. He was sitting there in a pool of his own blood and I could see the scratches, scars, and bruises that were on his face and his bare chest. How could this be? He was just with us before the evaporation. Matt was looking straight ahead as a teardrop fell from his face. It was like he was looking straight at us. Like we were watching him there suffer and we couldn't do anything about it. And we were. On the top middle of the television was a webcam. He could see us. Was this the agency's idea? Was this another death threat? "Matt?! Matt can you hear us?!?!" asked Jay, banging on the screen. Then I saw something that caught my eye and made me feel sick to the stomach. Underneath Matt's chair was a bomb.
  3. The numbers were easy to see as it shot out bright red. It was going to explode in approximately 20 seconds. And Matt knew that. He mouthed some words, but I couldn't understand what he was saying. Hopefully one of the others made it out. There was a teardrop coming from Matt's eye as the timer hit the 10 second mark. I was trying-hoping- that there was still a chance to just reach in a grab him from the screen but I knew it would be impossible. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Boom. Red, orange, and yellow flames engulfed the screen. We've just lost Matt.
  4. John Pearce's soul was avenged. He wanted to kill one of us and so he did. I wish I knew how he got Matt though. I sat on the floor and started crying. I was joined by everyone else and we sat in a circle formation comforting each other. That's when I knew we were a family. A dysfunctional one, but a loving one. I remember how Matt explained to me when I was captured that Cameron offered to pay him $50,000.00 to spy on us. His family was on the verge of poverty and I honestly felt bad for the kid. But now he's gone. He's gone away to a better, happier place with Scarlett. We bowed out heads in silence and I think we were all saying beloved words about Matt and Scarlett as their impact on our lives left finger prints on our hearts.
  5. Then it started raining; an appropriate time I'd say. It was late in the afternoon and it was way to dangerous to be out looking for a clue as lightning streaked the sky. The incident was a true slap in the face. This isn't a vacation, or a tour, or a mere game. This involves and endangers lives. Innocent people. People I loved and cared about. And it had to stop immediately. I made a mental note to myself in my head telling myself to be serious about searching for the clue. The faster we go, the closer we are to ending this. The smell of the rain relaxed me as the pouring turned into sprinkling. I went outside and sat on a log in front of the hut, not caring whether or not I get wet from the small shower. I was trying to collect my thoughts when I heard a rustle from a nearby tree. I looked in the direction of the sound and thought I saw something move. I slowly got up and without informing the others, went off into the trees to see what it was. Stupid, I know, but my curiosity was eating me up. I soon found myself alone and isolated in a maze of trees.
  6. I started panicking and looked around. The only thing I could hear was my breathing. Then something made me stop in my tracks. I saw a black jaguar baring its teeth at me. I tried running but my feet were glued to the dirt. I opened my mouth to scream but it's like somebody cut off my vocal cords as nothing came out. The animal studied me with his eyes and slowly came closer. Maybe I can make friends with him, I thought hastily. He closed his mouth, but still had his guard up. The circled went around me in circles and then sniffed me. I actually found that rather odd because usually, when you see a wild animal, it would probably tear you to bits and pieces right away. I didn't know what I was doing exactly, but I remembered I had the wedding ring in my pocket and I set it down on the dirt. As I suspected, the jaguar came and smelled it. It tilted its head and then its eyes soften up as it came closer to me. I put the ring back in my pocket as the jaguar nuzzled its head on my hand. After that, it started moving towards a different direction. I'm guessing that was a gesture to follow him.
  7. I kept my distance just in case, but surprisingly the jaguar led me back to camp. I started petting it on the head as a smiled appeared on my face. "Hey, where's..." Emma stared at me in confusion. "What's up with that...?" She asked, getting alarmed at the sight of the wild cat right before her eyes. The rest of the group joined her by the opening of the hut and stared in astonishment. Valentine came forward and started petting him as she got teary eyed. I bet he reminded her of Snuggles. "I heard a noise and I wanted to know what it was and I got lost. At first I thought this jaguar was going to eat me, but he led me back. Cool isn't it?" I explained. I stared into the cat's eyes and thought they looked familiar. It wasn't Snuggles, but someone else. I gasped and stepped back a little bit. "What?" Asked Valentine, who also stopped petting the creature and stepped back as well. I started smiling and it slowly turned into a grin. The jaguar smiled and slowly transformed into a human. A human specifically named Bentley.
  8. I laughed a little and ran into Bentley's arms for a hug. I let go and studies his face. He looked tired, and he lost some weight. His eyes seemed tense and alert, like he was expecting a crazy monkey to attack him any time soon. "Bentley!" Valentine cried as she bear hugged him. Elijah looked rather annoyed by this, but gave Bentley a brotherly hug. The others followed suit, and we all sat down inside. "Why were you a jaguar?" I asked him, handing him a bottle of water which he gulped down immediately. "I took refuge in the jungle. If I stayed in human form then the animals would definitely eat me up. I scented people and went to see who it was and I saw you. I wasn't sure if my mind was playing tricks on me, but once you took the ring out I knew it was really you. I used all of my green jellybeans to conceive that image of a cat." I remember those jelly beans. The ones that could transform you into any animal as long as have the right color bean. "Wasn't that painful?" Having to change so often from human to jaguar?" Asked a curious Taylor. "Yeah, but anything to survive. Trixia didn't make it. And soon after her, Jenna was killed by a Thysop. I barely made it alive." Bentley explained with an exasperated breath. "What's a Thysop?" Dakota asked, speaking for all of us. "A Thysop is a bird of great size and length. It has no eyes, but its hearing and scent is spot on. Under its wings are poisonous daggers that rarely ever miss. What's creepy about Thysops though is that whenever it sense death, it sings a sweet ghostly melody meant to haunt you forever." Bentley said, putting a little too much detail. And I thought the Maetryths were bad. "Do you know what happened to Snuggles and Wall-E?" Jay asked. "No idea. I wish I did though. And aren't you guys missing a person? Where is he?" Bentley asked, craning his neck around the room. We all looked at each other and swallowed hard. "He's dead." Jerimiah informed him. Bentley tensed up and looked at the ground. "I'm sorry." Then everything got all awkward. "Do you want some clean clothes?" Asked Elijah, who broke the ice. "Um, yeah thanks." Bentley said, following Elijah into a room. I realized I was wet from the rain, but I didn't care. "How are we going to solve the clue?" I asked, biting my lip. "We just need to try our best." Valentine said, putting a hand on my shoulder with an optimistic smile. "Wait, the clue!" I exclaimed, "Remember that clue in the box where the ring was? It said, 'something something owns the ring and soon you'll watch the dying bird sing." Everyone looked at me with blank expressions and I slapped my forehead with my palm. "Guys, help me out here." The Thysops! The clue talked about birds that are dying. Well Bentley said that Thysops are birds that sense death, right? Do you see the connection?" I seriously felt like Sherlock Holmes right now. "So you think the bird in the clue is talking about a Thysop?" Dakota asked, trying to make sure of my theory. I nodded. "Alrighty then, how do we find the owner of the ring in this whole jungle?" Jay asked quizzically. That was a good question that I couldn't seem to answer. I just guessed about the Thysops, I don't know everything!
  9. Bentley came back in not Elijah's clothes, but Jay's. "I thought you..." Jay started. "Yeah, I asked Bentley if he wanted any clean clothes. I didn't indicate that he was going to be wearing my clothes. Besides, his scrawny body probably wouldn't fit in my clothes. No offense to either of you." Elijah said with a smirk. Bentley was wearing a pair of jeans with a hoodie and a white v-neck under it. "I hope you don't mind." Bentley said with a smile. "Yeah...whatever." Jay replied. mumbling something under his breath. "Bentley, do you know who's chasing after us? I mean, no offense to him but it can't be Cameron. He's too...normal to be a type of villain. He's just like an evil ex boyfriend. Like in Scott Pilgrim." I said. "You guys don't know? Cameron is one thing. He's like a little side dish of carrots left off in the corner; don't mind him because he's not that big of a threat. The real problem is Andy Pearce. Do you guys know who that is?" Bentley asked. I gave everyone a look of astonishment and replied, "I thought he was dead..." "Nope. After the fire engulfed his house, he went M.I.A and he was nowhere to be found. The agency looked more into it and found out that he's changed his name to Gavin Ruckter. He's pretty much a maniac now. I heard he bombed an entire elementary school and got away with it even when the cops had him surrounded. He heard about the gem and started gathering up old agency recruits like Cameron whom the agency didn't want anymore. All I know is that we can't let him have that gem." "If the agency are such good people, then why did they send those hooded people in Hawaii?" Valentine asked. "What? They never sent that..." Bentley said, trailing off. "How do you know? You've been staying low key, remember?" Dakota said. I was soon not buying all of Bentley's story. "And what's up with Matt? He evaporated just the same with us, but he landed in a cellar and died. Is that the agency's fault?" I asked. "No. I bet John Pearce just sucked himself into the evaporation and got hold of one of you at random. If he got to pick he would have picked Elijah like he said back in Florida." Bentley explained, turning pale. "How do you know all of that? We never mentioned John Pearce's ghost, and I'm pretty sure you weren't there with us in Florida. Have you been stalking us or something?!" I said, feeling a bit creeped out by this. "The agency keeps us informed. Relax. Calm down." Bentley said, moving some hair out of his eyes. I still didn't believe him. His voice was soothing, but it seemed forced. "Fine." I said, letting the subject drop and hinting the others not to talk about it anymore.
  10. I stood up and returned to my spot outside on the log. Jerimiah and Jay went out and attempted to build a fire while I watched for my entertainment. "Do you guys know what you're doing?" I asked them with a small laugh as Jay was rolling a stick between his palms. "Please. We're men. We got this!" They reassured. Yeah, they so don't got this. Jerimiah was fumbling with the wood when Elijah walked out with Valentine and looked at them oddly. "Do you children need help?" He asked mockingly. "Yes, Father. Please help us master the fine art of fire making." Jay responded with the same sarcastic tone. "As you wish, young grass hoppers." He replied with a laugh as he sat down along Jerimiah and Jay. And in a few short minutes, a spark started a flame, and a fire was ablaze. Valentine had taken a seat next to me, and she was dreamily gazing into the hearth of the flames. Not wanting to bother her, I called out inside the hut to join us outside as it wasn't raining anymore. We all took a seat around the perimeter of the fire, and I could tell there was some tension in the air. I wished Matt was here; he was always one to start an interesting conversation. "I'm hungry." Dakota stated. "Aren't you always?" Emma replied with a smile. "I'll go out hunting then. You all stay here." Bentley volunteered with a little bit of hostility. He took off into the jungle without turning back. I thought he was being a little diva right there.
  11. "What's on your mind, babe?" Asked Elijah to a still Valentine. The fire flickered the same color of her hair and she shuddered, coming back to reality. "I don't know." She said as she stood up and went back inside of the hut. Elijah looked around at all of us for an answer as to why she was acting like this. I shrugged and said, "Maybe she's just sad. Snuggles is missing and Matt and Scarlett are dead. Scarlett adored Valentine, Snuggles was one of her best friends, and I don't know if you know this but Matt and Valentine were really, really close." Elijah stood up, wiping his hands on his jeans and followed Valentine into the hut. "We should devote our whole day tomorrow to look for the clue." Emma suggested. "I agree. If we really do have a time limit then I think we should get going as soon as possible." The misty wind blew slightly against the trees, making the animals squirm and the birds chirp. It actually felt like a camping trip to me; and how I truly wish it was. I let my mind float away for a couple of seconds until I heard glass break from inside of the hut. That could only mean one thing: Valentine and Elijah. I scrambled up to my feet to see what happened, but it seemed that I didn't have to as the couple found their way outside. "Elijah Jace Woodley! How dare you use him against me! So what if Matt and I were close? It was your fault you didn't notice! My social life isn't an open book, BABE." She shouted at him, now sounding like herself. Elijah's cheeks flushed as he shouted back, "Valentine Marie Bloomings! I didn't expect you to tell me everything that has happened to you, but I think Matt kissing you was something that I should have known!" Valentine then got nose to nose with Elijah and stood on her tippy toes. It looked like they were about to kiss, but I'm pretty sure that wasn't going to happen. I looked around, but everyone else seemed to be consumed into the drama. "It was a BIRTHDAY kiss! It was on my cheek! Why are you so over protective?!" She cried with a stammer of her foot. "BECAUSE YOU'RE MY GIRLFRIEND AND I DON'T WANT YOU TO BE ANYBODY ELSE'S BUT MINE." Elijah snapped. "Why not?" Valentine asked, lowering her tone. Elijah's shoulders relaxed and he closed his eyes for a breather. "I can't tell you." He replied with a sigh. Valentine looked as if she were about to cry, but stood her ground fiercely when she said, "Fine. Then don't." She whirled back into the hut and slammed the door shut. I didn't even realize there was a door.
  12. With a sigh, Elijah came back to the logs around the fire and sat down. "So the weather's nice today, huh?" Asked Jay with an effort to break the silence. I smiled a little, but stopped immediately when I saw Elijah staring. "Tell us what happened." Emma said a little timidly. "Do I have to?" He mumbled, glancing up from the ground to look at her. "If you want to makes things better with Valentine then yeah." She replied with a smile that said, 'tell me now or I will break your face'. Elijah didn't hesitate this time and started explaining. "Okay so I went inside to see what was wrong and then I saw Valentine sprawled on her bed crying. I went over to comfort her and to hug her, but when I came close she tried hiding something under her pillow. I pretended not to notice, but then as I hugged her I looked under the pillow and saw a picture of her and Matt together in Vegas. Yeah I know the kid just died and stuff, but of course I got bothered by it, you know? But she looked so happy with him. And then she told me that they were like best friends which resulted in her telling me about the kiss." "Really? And you guys started fighting over that?" I asked, a bit amused. "So you don't her to be anybody else's, but you can't tell her why?" Jerimiah asked. This was like a show of Oprah I watched one time. "I want to tell her. But I'm afraid." He explained. "Tell her what?" Emma inquired. "That you know...that I...love her." "Aw, that's so cute!" I exclaimed with a grin. "Yeah, but it's hard for me because I've never said that to a girl before. Ever. I like Valentine A LOT, but what's going to happen when all of this is over? I can't picture myself without her by my side. I love her way to much." And so that's when I realized that I was going to die alone with a million of cats. I mean, I don't even know if I have a relationship in this house. Nobody have ever made it official, you know? I was about to answer Elijah's question when apparently Bentley came back and asked, "Turkey or pork?"
  13. We voted on pork. Bentley caught a wild boar, cleaned it, and started roasting it over the fire. Poor pig. Valentine and Elijah were distancing each other, although I think it's a stupid reason to do so. I guess part of it was my fault though since I told Elijah that Valentine and Matt were close in the first place. Well he would've found out eventually, I guess. I tried a piece of the boar and thought it was kind of good. It could use some rosemary and thyme here and there, and it wasn't no Bobby Flay dish, but it was decent. I gulped down a bottle of water and heard a coyote howl. "Do you think we should take shifts keeping guard? I mean, who knows what's out there. And that hut doesn't look very reliable..." Valentine pointed out. "I agree. You and I will take the first watch while the others sleep. Is that okay with you?" Bentley asked her. Valentine took a quick look at ELijah and nodded her head with a sweet smile. Elijah started picking at the ground with a stick roughly. I think he was resisting the temptation to punch Bentley in the face. "After us will be Emma and Taylor, then Elijah and Dakota, and finally Jay and _____." Jerimiah raised his hand as if to ask a question but then put it down. "You forgot me." Bentley furrowed his brow and then decided that Jerimiah will take the last shift with Jay and me. That will be interesting. We finished up the boar and then put it's remains in a bag and tied it far up in a tree. I helped move two chairs and light some lanterns for Valentine and Bentley whom were taking the first shift. Elijah took Bentley by the arm and then said something to him in a low tone which resulted in Bentley snickering. Was he talking crap on Valentine or something? We all said good-night and I yawned as I went to sleep on the cold, hard bunk. I saw Snuggles in my dream. He looked as if he hadn't bathed in a long time. His fur was matted and his cat eyes were filled with alarm. His nails were unhealthily long, and there was no sight of Wall-E. Snuggles was crouching low, walking slowly in a thick forrest of wheat. Suddenly Snuggles stopped and turned his head to look behind him. He then transformed into a cheetah and sprinted away so fast he was a blur. In my dream, I saw a shadow like creature chasing Snuggles keeping up with his speed. The shadow was close to Snuggles' tail and pounced on him. Snuggles tried pulling away, but the shadow was somehow clinging to him with a strong grip. Then everything focused, and I saw that the shadow wasn't a shadow at all. It looked like...a monster. It was black as night with piercing orange eyes. It had an arched back and sharp claws. The skin of the thing looked scaly like a snakes. Its mouth was full of blood as it started biting into Snuggles, so hopeless. Where was Wall-E?! In the distance of the bloodbath was a human figure. It was me. I was just watching. Why wasn't I doing anything? Why was I just watching the hideous thing do that to Snuggles? The image started getting blurry and was soon gone as I slowly opened my eyes.
