  1. *Recap* Last time, you got into a fight with Ron over the Triwizard Tournament, where he kissed you and you slapped him. Draco showed you some badges he created, and in the days leading up to the task, you attempted to prepare for the first task with Harry and even Neville the night before. You went to the task and eventually managed to get the golden egg, but got severely injured in the process, passing out just a moment later.
  2. The next time I became conscious again, I found myself back in the tent I had waited in before the task. Madam Pomfrey was busy concocting something nearby, and I suddenly felt an intense painful sensation on my arm. I looked over and realized it was burned in several places. Madam Pomfrey applied some sort of salve to the red patches, and I immediately felt the pain fade significantly. She bandaged my arm gently and congratulated me on my success. My golden egg was lying on the beside table. "A few inches to the left and you would have been much worse off. Two fourth years competing in the tournament is going too far, I've told Dumbledore, but the Ministry assured him it is mandatory you compete. You were extremely lucky," she told me sternly, tightening the bandage around my forearm. I smiled in thanks and got out of bed to go find Harry.
  3. I found him in the main part of the tent, along with Hermione. Unfortunately, Ron was there, too. He and Harry had apparently reconciled. After what I had just gone through, I wasn't in any mood to fight. I walked up to them tentatively, and they all looked visibly relieved, presumably because I had survived. Harry and Hermione greeted me, and an awkward pause followed as they waited for something to happen between Ron and I. He apparently couldn't take it anymore and immediately started babbling a lot of apologies about his previous behavior. I held up my hand to stop the flow of words. "Okay, slow down. I'm guessing you've realized we DIDN'T put our names in, then?" I asked pointedly, raising my eyebrows at him questioningly. He went slightly pink and nodded. "Good," I said, still a bit cautious about forgiving him. "So, are we friends?" he asked hopefully. I narrowed my eyes at him, and then relented. "Fine," I said in defeat, and he brightened considerably. "But if you ever do that again, I'll feed you to the dragon," I said ominously, jerking my thumb towards the Quidditch pitch. He grinned at my threat, and it seemed we were all friends again.
  4. As we waited, the three Gryffindors informed me of my score for the first task. Apparently, I had received a thirty-nine, which put me in second place, just a point behind Harry and Cedric. "I'll bet Karkaroff brought your score down. You deserved at least a forty-five," Ron said, eager to please after our disagreement. "You were amazing out there. You finished the fastest out of all of us. I'll bet they docked points for the burn, though," Harry chimed in cheerfully. I laughed. "I had no idea what I was doing. I'm just glad I got the egg, let alone second place!" I said in disbelief. A commotion came from the entrance of the tent, and we turned simultaneously to see what it was.
  5. "I assure you, Wood, Miss Levell will be just fine. Madam Pomfrey's taking good care of her," Professor McGonagall said firmly, blocking the entrance of the tent. Despite her efforts, a tall, burly Oliver forced his way in. We both stopped and froze at the sight of each other, before I nearly bowled him over with an embrace. "Oliver! What are you doing here?" I asked, surprised at his appearance. "I saw an article on the Triwizard Tournament in the Daily Prophet. You were named as a champion," he said, giving me a concerned look. "And you came back to Hogwarts because of that?" I asked incredulously. He nodded with an almost embarrassed look. "Well, I didn't want to see you get hurt in the tournament. I didn't do a very good job of it, though," he said, eyeing my bandaged arm. "I'm fine," I assured him. I suddenly realized Harry, Ron, and Hermione were watching the scene in awkward silence. "So you're back," Ron said in a dead tone, his old jealousy already returning. I inwardly groaned at the thought of dealing with a jealous Ron again, but Oliver's next words dispelled that fear. "I can only stay for a couple of days. Puddlemere United needs me," he said regretfully, and both Ron and Harry visibly brightened up. I nodded in understanding, a little disappointed that he couldn't stay longer. It was probably for the best, though.
  6. The two days passed all too fast, though every time I went anywhere with Oliver, Ron insisted on accompanying us, no matter how inconvenient it was. Oliver seemed to be having a hard time putting up with him, but I was sure he only did it to make things less complicated for me. He was due to Disapparate from Hogsmeade at any time, but it took quite a bit of nagging from me to get him to go. "Come on, Oliver. You don't want to miss Quidditch," I said, giving him a nudge. He gave me a half-hearted smile. "Quidditch is fine...but you...you're, well, you know," he said shyly. I cocked an eyebrow at him, wondering exactly what he was going to say. He took a deep breath as if to calm himself. "I don't know if I want to go back to Puddlemere if it means losing you," he said with finality. My eyes widened with surprise. He was getting serious. "But Quidditch is...well, it's your life!" I exclaimed. He smiled wanly. "Not anymore," he said in a soft tone. I shifted uncomfortably under his gaze. "I'm not going to let you quit on my account. Go, or I'll take you there myself," I said, giving him a tug on his arm. He laughed at my feeble efforts to drag him out of the Gryffindor common room, where he had been staying. I made it all the way outside before he stopped me. "All right. I'll go. But it's not goodbye," he said, giving me a quick hug. It felt like the end of third year all over again. I watched him disappear towards Hogsmeade for a time, and waved him on when he kept glancing back. At last, I returned to my common room, dispirited and the tiniest bit relieved.
  7. One day during Transfiguration, Professor McGonagall announced a very special event coming up over the holidays – The Yule Ball. Many of the girls began whispering excitedly, while some of the boys groaned. Hermione began muttering to me under her breath, making plans for her dress attire and her hair. The class dispersed with that new event to either dread or look forward to, and Professor McGonagall called Harry and I to the front. She informed us that the champions were required to find a dance partner because we would be leading the school in a dance. Harry protested dully, but I simply felt a growing sense of apprehension. Dancing wasn't one of my greatest talents. Nevertheless, I apparently had to find someone to go with.
  8. Just within a few hours of the announcement, two Hufflepuff boys I had never seen before asked me to go with them. Startled, I turned them down without even considering it. Over the next couple of days, at least four others had asked me, including two other Hogwarts students, one from Beauxbatons, and frighteningly enough, an extremely large boy from Durmstrang. If I didn't accept something soon, I was going to end up dancing alone. I walked to the library one day, trying to find a way out of my dilemma. I didn't want to end up going with just anyone, but it was looking like that might happen.
  9. Turns out, I ran straight into Hermione. It wasn't much of a surprise, since she practically lived in the library. "Oh, hi, Cassandra! Um, I'm not really supposed to tell you, but...Harry's looking for you," she said, giggling a bit. She was oddly cheerful. I looked at her suspiciously, assuming someone had probably asked her to the ball, but she simply pushed me on towards Gryffindor Tower.
  10. I bumped into Harry right outside of the entrance to the Gryffindor common room. I knew exactly what he was going to ask when I saw him. "Hi, Harry," I said in greeting, straightening my clothes self-consciously. He looked extremely nervous. "Er...wangoballwime?" he asked in a rush. "Sorry?" I said, unable to make much out of the question. "D'you – d'you want to go to the ball with me?" he repeated much slower, going bright red in the process. "Oh, um...sure," I said, giving him a small smile. "Oh, that's great! I'll – I'll see you later, then," he said almost disbelievingly, as if he couldn't believe I had said yes. He couldn't help but grin in return, and I couldn't help but wonder what Ron would think of us attending the ball together.
  11. It was all settled by the time the holidays arrived. Almost everyone had a date to the ball by then. I found out Hermione was going with Viktor Krum, Neville had agreed to go with Ginny, and Padma had even agreed to attend with Ron because Parvati was too stubborn to go with him.
  12. *music826* I swear, it takes me longer to write the options than to write the story. It's very annoying. Anyway, I was terrible with fitting everyone in this edition. You'll see Neville and Draco in the next one, which just happens to be the Yule Ball! As far as Cho Chang goes, I'm basically going to pretend she never existed in this story to avoid complications. I liked her in the books, but I'm far too lazy to work around it, so I'm sure you Harry fans will be delighted :). So, yeah, I'll stop talking now...
