Ernest watched Selene, concerned. He looked back at Callisto.

Callisto gritted her teeth. ‘Don’t make me do this, Selene. Not in front of my daughter.’
Selene didn’t move. Mahina ran back into the room. -
Ernie glared at Callisto. "Don't you dare." He muttered, knowing that he couldn't do anything if magic was involved, but not caring.

‘Insolent boy,’ Callisto growled.
Mahina gave the wand to Selene and helped her into a standing position. -
"What're you gonna do about it?" Ernest said back, hoping he could take the attention away from Mahina and Selene.

Callisto aimed her wand at Ernest.
Mahina watched then helplessly. ‘Don’t!’ she exclaimed. -
Ernie tried to hide the fear on his face. It didn't work quite so well. He grabbed Mahina's hand.

Mahina looked between Ernest and Selene. ‘Ernest, get behind me,’ she said.

Ernest's eyes widened. "What? No, no way."

‘Ernest,’ Mahina snapped. ‘Get behind me or I’ll make you.’

Ernie knew he would regret it, but he went behind her. "There, happy?" He asked quietly.

Mahina nodded and turned her attention to Selene. Her wand was thrust out, pointing at Hendrik. She seemed to be able to stand. Mahina slowly reached for her staff.

Ernest watched the two of them nervously.

Callisto pointed her wand at Mahina. ‘Child,’ she said, trying and failing to make her voice sound calm. ‘Step away from the human.’ Mahina didn’t move.

Ernest really didn't want Mahina to get hurt because he was behind her. He took a small step back.
