Chester looked up at him, smiling weakly. The person at the door and Oliver spoke a few hushed words, before the person, Maeve, walked inside with two plates of crumpets and jam. ‘Here’s some breakfast,’ she said with a weak smile, setting them on the table v

"Thanks, Maeve." Jayden smiled.

Maeve sat on the edge of the bed so she could rest a hand on Chester’s arm. Oliver was arguing at a second person at the door.
‘Are you guys okay?’ Maeve asked.
Chester nodded. -
Jayden nodded. "Who else is at the door?" He muttered, looking up.

Maeve sighed. ‘Astrid. He insisted on coming, for some reason,’ she muttered, reaching for Chester’s hand and squeezing it.

Jayd sighed. "Alright." He offered Chester one of the crumpets.

Chester shook his head. ‘I’m not hungry,’ he mumbled.

Jayden raised an eyebrow. "You haven't eaten in ages, Chester. Please?"

Chester sighed and took the crumpet. ‘Fine.’

Jayden took one for himself, leaning into Chester.

Chester nibbled the crumpet, relaxing in Jayden’s arms. Astrid walked inside, followed by an exasperated Oliver.

Jayd looked up at Astrid. "What're you doing back here?"

Chester buried his face in Jayden’s chest.

Jayden held him, still looking at Astrid expectantly.
