A month and a half later, there Chester stood, at the end of the aisle in his fancy suit, golden crown adorned with rubies on his head. He wore earrings, dark hair perfectly styled against his face - which was set in a look of anxiety. His gloved hands fidgeted with the sides of his cape as the pastor spoke, something about eternal love.
The throne room was decorated with black, red white, and light pink flowers, with gold and light green accents. Chester hadn’t yet seen Jayden in his chosen outfit, much to his dismay.
Maeve stood behind Chester as his maid of honor (a label that took Chester a lot of convincing to use), beside Oliver as groomsman, and a few other trusted men. -
Jayden was at the end of the aisle, and he started walking down to Chester and the pastor. He was wearing a light, pastel green, with a transparent cape at the back that went down to the floor. He was wearing gold armbands and necklaces as well as a gold crown above his head.
He looked up at Chester and couldn't help smiling. He couldn't believe that this was real. He then looked out to the people in the chairs. There were so many people, from staff to friends, Jayden even invited some cousins and distant relatives. All of them were there to support the two of them. It was beautiful -
Chester’s eyes locked onto Jayden as the doors opened, and his heart fluttered at the sight of him there.
This was really happening. He was marrying his love, and it wasn’t hidden, or objected by anyone who mattered.
There was no Astrid, no Beatrice, no horrid relatives - all worries of them appearing dissipated upon the mere sight of his fiancé. About to be husband.
The king’s eyes welled as Jayden walked down the aisle. He wiped his eyes with a gloved hand, trying his very best to look regal and cold - something he’d spent his entire life being. Everything was perfect.
He took Jayden’s hands in his own, gazing at him as the priest continued speaking.
‘Do you, King Jayden Celeste of the East Kingdom, take Chester Jackson’s hand in marriage, in sickness and in health?’ -
Jayden looked up at Chester, noticing he was crying. He smiled, wanting to pull him closer. "I do." He nodded, eyes never leaving Chesters.
He was glad Chester was holding his hands, because otherwise he would be fidgeting with his gold bracelets like a nervous wreck. It wasn't that he was scared of being Chesters' husband- far from it- but all of the emotions were still crashing down on him like a hurricane. Nervousness, excitement, love, all of it was swirling around in his mind. He was even sad that his immediate family wasn't at the wedding. He knew they wouldn't be, but it hurt regardless. -
Chester smiled at him, rubbing his hands gently. Jayden looked absolutely beautiful. Chester was grateful the blond had even laid eyes on him.
‘And do you, King Chester Jackson of the North Kingdom, Duke of the South, take Jayden Celeste’s hand in marriage in sickness and in health?’
Chester gazed down at Jayden. One of his hands moved to cup his cheek.
‘I do.’
‘You may now kiss the groom.’ -
Jayden immediately leaned into Chester, kissing him. He closed his eyes, and could hear the cheers from the people watching. He tried hard not to grin.
-
Chester’s hands moved from the blond’s to his new husband’s waist, gently pulling him closer and deepening the kiss. It took every fibre of self control not to smile, or to cry. Maeve cheered particularly loud, making Lavender giggle.
‘You’re beautiful,’ he whispered against Jayden’s lips when they finally parted. -
Jayden was beaming, giggling a bit at Maeve cheering. "You're stunning." He whispered back, hugging him. "I love you."
-
‘God, I love you too,’ Chester whispered, holding him firmly against him. It didn’t feel real. No moment could possibly be so magical.
He smiled and kissed the top of his head.
Soon, they were having their first dance. Chester held a hand out to him, a smile playing on his lips as he stepped out closer to the ballroom floor. -
Jayden took his hand with a grin, walking to the ballroom floor. "You ready?" He pulled Chester closer.
-
Chester’s cheeks flushed - a shade of red they’d been in for most of the night.
He smiled back and nodded, pulling him close, placing his hand on Jayden’s waist. His other held the blond’s hand up beside them, their fingers interlocked.
‘As ready as I’ll ever be, rose,’ he whispered.
Then the music started, and they danced. It was magical.
Soon, they were joined by Maeve, who wore a black suit-dress with green decorations and Lavender. Then Oliver, dressed in a dark green suit, usual curly hair brushed, who danced with his boyfriend Charles. -
Jayden tried not to stumble- he wasn't much of a ballroom dancer- and was grinning, restraining himself from laughing every time he made a mistake. Chester didn't seem to mind, thank god.
The rest of the night went as smoothly as it could, with no sight of Astrid, Beatrice, or any other people who would try and stir up drama. It was just the people they invited, who wanted to support them. It was more than Jayden had ever dreamed of.
