Chester immediately stopped. He hated seeing Jayden so distressed. He should’ve been there to protect him, instead Jayden had to put himself in such a horrid position just so his pathetic boyfriend stop hallucinating. Jayden has sacrificed his reputation and pretty much his sanity, just to get this cure.
Chester wanted to hold him close and tell him everything would be okay. He wanted to keep him away from danger and in his arms forever and imprison anyone who had ever hurt him. ‘You’re safe now. You’ll never have to see those horrid people ever again, I promise.’ His eyes fell on a mark on Jayden’s neck. His jaw clenched, not with feelings of betrayal, but of anger and guilt. Anger to Benji and everyone horrible who had used them. He had enough.
‘How about this, I’ll draw you a nice, hot bath, and order a large, sugary breakfast. You have the longest bath of your life and eat in bed, or do both at the same time, have a nap, whatever you want. I can leave to give Oliver the Ashblood and help him with the cure while you get an entire day to yourself, if you want,’ -
Jayden nodded, staring at his shaking hands before wrapping them around his legs and pulling his knees close to his chest. “Can we go to the cabin tomorrow?” He asked weakly. He wanted to get out of this kingdom as fast as possible.

Jayden saw where Chester glanced at, and immediately moved one of his arms off of his leg to try and cover it up, stomach twisting with shame. -
‘Of course. I’ll organise a carriage and pack for us,’ Chester said. He picked him up bridal style, cradling him close and walking to the bathroom. He set him down on the toilet and turned on the tap to the bath, making it warm. He didn’t say anything, since he knew how difficult it was to speak after being assaulted like that. He felt horrible for not being there, for not helping him, for falling asleep and letting him go. He was going to have an angry talk with Oliver about not leaving people with crappy exes.
He walked to the door. ‘Give a shout if you need anything, okay? I’m sorry, love.’ -
“It’s not your fault.” Jayden mumbled before he left. He didn’t want to be alone. He didn’t trust himself with his thoughts. But he couldn’t make Chester stay the whole day, unless he wanted to lose him forever. He buried his head in his hands for a while, trying to decipher his thoughts through all the raw emotions his brain was cycling through.

Chester walked in to Oliver’s office, holding the coal of Ashblood. ‘Hey.’ -
(I’m still awake lol I started thinking about serial killers and 90s cartoons and now I can’t sleep)
Oliver looked up. “Is that the ashblood Jayden got?” -
(Oh that’s so real we love)
‘Yeah.’ Chester set the vial down. ‘Why the f--- did you leave him alone?’ -
(Lol now I’m going on a whole mental rant about the Cold War propaganda since I mentioned it on my thread, there’s no escape help me-)
“I tried to stay, but he kept insisting I leave!” Oliver protested. “You know I can’t ignore orders!” -
(Help we love that man I’m too scared to reply to your story but honestly yes Donald trump is a Hollywood villain)
Chester groaned, sitting down and burying his face in his hands. ‘I know, I know. I’m sorry, I just hate seeing him upset.’ -
(Dude I remember watching the episode of animaniacs when they made fun of trump and I was little so I didn’t understand it at the time but I remember my dad was PISSED for the rest of the day bc of how mad he was that trump won lmao
Me and him are binging Simpsons all summer so that’s what reminded me of it lol)
Oliver gave a small nod. “I’m sorry.” -

‘Don’t apologise. I just wish he’d let me come,’ Chester muttered into his hands. -
(Animaniacs is lowkey a super good 90s cartoon, if you can find clips of it it’s worth the watch (the reboot is on Hulu, but it’s not as good)
Simpsons is so silly they made fun of Foxnews and Disney mercilessly only to be bought out by them. The fact that Disney+ lets people go on their app to watch a show that bullies them for being a heartless corporation created by a man with evil civil rights views is SO RIDICULOUS)
“He thought your hallucinations would just make matters worse.” Oliver didn’t know if that’d help, but his friend deserved the explanation. -

‘I wish I could’ve helped. Found another way to get it,’ Chester muttered. He knew Jayden would’ve just told him that it’s fine, and he wouldn’t be able to help in any way. He just wished he could’ve done something, anything, so that Jayden didn’t have to go through that. He watched an Oliver started mixing together herbs and such. -
(I K N O W dude ask your parents about the Simpsons bc ik it’s a very American show but I can guarantee they’ve at least heard of it
Dude the Simpsons was in my AP Geography textbook bc of how foundational it was and is to our political, pop cultural, and comedic views on the world. There’s a whole season dedicated to making fun of President Bush because he made fun of the Simpsons during an election speech)
